ive looked long and hard at 3d tv sat in many shops and watched all brands, all i can say its gotta be sony nothing comes near their 3d.
#4
The Samsung LCD/LED are not bad either.

Ordered mine earlier in the week, arriving sunday - can't wait!!!!

Was in 2 minds about this deal then read the owners forum on avfrorums and it swung it for me...

The TV can play 3D mkvs direct from a USB stick or USB hard drive, which is just an awesome feature! Managed to acquire (ahem!) a few over the last couple of days.

PS3 gaming is also meant to be superb with Motorstorm 3D rift seemingly the best game out there at the moment. Although Wipeout HD and Tumble (with Move support) are also meant to be decent...

Got 3D Sky activated and all - bring on Sunday!!!

You are in for a treat, i got a c6900 and this model is almost the same, not sure about the comment that sony 3d is the best, it depends on what tv's you were comparing with the sony.

That's a great deal. You could even sell your Monstars vs Aliens on eBay for around forty notes. Might as well as it's shown on sky 3D at least once a week. Good film and great 3D effects.
I love my telly (Which is this model as posted), fantastic 2D and 3D picture. Don't listen to the anti 3D mob. This is more than a fad, it's the future. Heat from me (I appear to have become a 3D fan boy)! See you all at the next Samsung 3D post lol.

Do Samsung tvs still have probs with the capacitors failing and boards burning out early in the life of the set normally outside the standard warranty which results in loss off picture but still have sound?

I bought this 3D TV and I am very impressed with how realistic it is. I fell asleep watching the Liverpool game and when I woke up my wallet was gone.
#10
is this a plasma 3d?
#11

#12
oooo they are getting cheaper :D we'll all be able to get 1 before we know it!
well spotted

Good question, mine had the same issues....Samsung were not very helpful.

for Currys, the voucher code ONLY works with the online purchase. not instore or reserve & collect.

if you ask instore, they cant honour it.

once again Dixons taking business away from their own high street stores!!

Didn't see any mention of warranty on Comet's website but surely a 3 year one? SOGA would work if not

the lg lx9900 blows this outa the water, only led tv on its own and a bit dearer but well worth the money.

It's way too early to be jumping aboard the 3D wagon at the moment. 21:9 ratio active 3D LED tv's will be everywhere for less than this in a years time. These version will be much like the early 720p HD tv's from about 2 years ago that you can't even find now.
#22
Anyone ever hear of 8 Track?

Quadraphonic music perhaps?

Or Lazerdisc?

Betamax?

Also, does the built-in streaming of the tv allow the playback of half-sbs files?

gotta agree with you there. I have demo'd a few 3d tv's and was very impressed by the LG's with the vivid colours even when the glasses were worn. But I am biased towards panasonics vt range myself.

Mine's coming on Monday

After a lot of deliberation, mine is too.

Unless of course it's like last Monday when the missus stayed in all freakin' day to take delivery of 3 x 2TB 'MyBooks' (the delivery date was on confirmation email), only to discover after phoning them at 4pm it would be a Tuesday delivery instead (DHL was the courier at the time).

Girl on phone apologised, then made some excuse about it happening a lot with Monday deliveries for some reason.

Can't wait!

I'm not a fan of extended warrenties but thinking that getting one for this make might be a good idea, there's a reasonably priced one here

There is 3 pairs in total
2 of the pairs come in a box with monsters vs aliens
1 pair you need to request from samsung
#33
rizla01 has it about right - 3D is too immature at the moment.
Would I pay extra for 3D - no - it's just software once the panel has been developed
would I pay 100 quid for a pair of glasses? - no - a couple or 3 are not enough, and they get broken. What do *I* want? No price premium, standard bluetooth glasses interface so I can use the cheap ones from poundshop, wider angle viewing in 3D.

And no - I don't have 8-track or Betamax or Quad.

So there's definitely no 3D glasses in the TV box?

Can someone who has received their TV please confirm?

Ta.

The thing is, Currys are advertising this deal with three pairs and if one of the pairs is subject to claiming direct from the Samsung-Connect site, that MAY present a problem.

Samsung-Connect are currently out of stock (more due in very soon apparently), but at the bottom of the page it states:
'Offer is limited and only available while stocks last - E&OE'.

Here's a screen dump of the advert (click to enlarge):

Just in case Currys change the sdvert image on their server like Comet did (to show only one pair).

Well, mine was delivered with one pair in the TV box, and two pairs in separate retail packaging, I've applied for the fourth from Samsung Connect.

I have this screen and can't fault it, it has replaced a Panasonic 50 inch V10 that had black level issues (which was replaced by a Panasonic 42 inch G20 which now sits in my bedroom. I am running this Samsung in at the moment so haven't played with the settings too much. I was going to wait for Panasonics flagship 3D model to be launched in 2011 but at this price I just had to buy. This is truly excellent value for money.
I got 3 sets of glasses, 1 in the box with the plasma and 2 seperate. I have also ordered an extra free set from Samsung.
The 3D is amazing.

Please for the love of TV ignore the silly comments above about what will be better in a years time and what is better for more money. This is an OK TV for less than £1K. It's not meant to be a big investment in future proof technology. Yes 3D is a bit of a gimmik, yes Samsung are better at making fridges than TVs but I've seen this TV and it is OK. If you want a cheap impressive TV buy this. If not - don't! If there is something better for the money - please post the details.
