They were using Budget Insurance to provide the cover/admin... I presume they still do. Now there is a company which is a nightmare! I never even made a claim from them, and they still messed me about - they DO make a drama out of ANYTHING :-(

this might seem like a good deal but it isnt!!!!!!! i had home and contents insurance with them last year. i had the misfortune to have a major gas leak under my concrete floors,
reported it and had gas supply turned off by the gas board who condemned the supply.
i phone the PO and said about my nightmare and they said they will send one of there own men around in the morning and get it fixed within a day or so , it as it come under the emergency protection clause .
i had the day off and no one turned up - i was fuming mad . i gave them the most almighty rollocking and said there service stinks and as soon as my policy expires im off elsewhere.
in the end i paid best part of £400 to get this leak sorted when my insurance should of covered it .
they are absolut shysters - buy there again most of the others are too i suppose - soon as they have your money they will do there utmost to try and wiggle out of it .

plus £25ish cashback from quidco

Voted Cold as my RAC van insurance was about £150 cheaper even with cashbacks.

ALso to note that I used 3 of the major comparison websites the Post Office came top in most of them but the RAC was much better offering a replacement van, breakdown cover and legal cover for alot less. They also offered an additional breakdown card for my wife for about £10 extra.

Moral - don't trust the comparison sites

This offer is not available "instore", (I manage a PO!) obviously we have all the promotional literature, but we don't have the facility to set up or admin any of our insurance products, it all has to go through the website or call centre

The PO initially used to get quotes from a panel of insurers (bit like having their own version of confused/money supermarket I guess) this was stopped quite soon after launch and all policies were provided by Norwich Union, now they're all administered by BISL Ltd.

I don't have my car insurance with PO, but I do have my contents with them - I also had the misfortune of having to make a claim on my home insurance last year and it couldn't have been easier (and no, that's not just because I work for them!). Details were taken and the claim dealt with very efficiently, had my vouchers to replace the damaged goods within 7 days.

I've had insurance on & off with PO for years and had no complaints. My boiler broke around 6pm one Sunday night - someone was out to fix it by 10.30 next day under their emergancy cover - which is automatically included.

Have been shopping around again and no-one can beat them, even without the £50 cashback.

They do still use a panel of insurers but it usually depends what excesses you want on the policy as to who gives the best qoute - if you're happy with £250 excess on car insurance Norwich Union always give best price. If you ask them for less excxess you tend to find that they offer a price from someone else.

cold as much better deals from quidco (I got £90 back on contents from AIG and £100 back on buildings from Natwest). Premiums were very good before the cashback.
