Nationwide auto centres are offering 50% discount for MOT's booked online. Offer is only avilabale on line though and includes a free retest.

Nearset price I could find was £49 in the bournemouth area to this is a great deal as far as I'm concerned.

Just in case the "GO TO DEAL" link doesn't work.

Just use: http://www.nationwideautocentres.co.uk/MOT

As mentioned many times in NA deals though, these centres often find things they want to replace and repair that aren't necessary or are just blatantly false repairs, whether MOT related or not. Be on your guard.

Had mine done with these last week and they failed me on 6 things but took it to somewhere else to get it fixed and it passed on the free retest.

Managed to phone up and book with them at that price, so worth a try if you can't do it online.

They'll soon find a way of getting the "50% discount" back off you.
#5
They also do a deal on tyres where they guarantee to be cheaper than Kwik Fit or they will match their price and give you 5% cashback.

I had it done at Nationwide auto centers but my MOT did not pass and i end up paying for the re test fee again ,b,coz if you take the motor away and bring it back for retest even if its fail on Tyre you have to pay another fee which is another £27.42x2=£54. Only time you can avoid paying the retest fee by allowing them to repair your car which will cost you 4x ,so for me it is cold

Better to go through Black Circles in the first place.

Have experienced this myself a few years ago.

Was driving past one of their centres and noticed they offered a free brake check so I took the car in. Can't remember the specifics but they essentially said I really should get my front brakes changed as they were low.

A week later, took the car to my friend who is a qualified mechanic and does all my repairs and he checked the brakes for me and said they had plenty of life left in them.

Have used these for 3 previous MOTs and have never had a fail yet, even when i suspected my car may get failed it passed. So i would say it depends on which centre you use. (i use Grantham)

Hot from me

they do ive had my car mot done there for past two years, first only failed on tyres and wipers which i guessed before anyway, took it away got new tyres and wiper blades took it back free re-test.
this time passed (and i used the voucher), so did my brother-in-laws, so not all of them are the same.

When I click on the link it shows normal price? How do you get the discount and how long until it runs out?

In theory they have to for certain items if you get them repaired and back the next day.
http://mottesting.org.uk/mot-retest-information-fail.html

However you may mysteriously discover that they don't have a booking slot/time to do it.
They've always been pretty good with me until the last 12 months or so. I suspect the credit crunch is pinching a bit. Not sure I trust them after they've pushed for me to have my cambelt changed last 2 times I've been in. My car doesn't have a cambelt - it has a chain.

The thing is, with your case there, you can see for yourself whether your tyres and wipers are worn or not, unlike say, your brakes. I got my tyres and wipers replaced (they did need it) before my MOT and service so they never became an MOT fail issue. Makes sense to replace a few things before your MOT rather than fail it and then have to replace anyway.

I agree to that.

Use a local council MOT centre. They are unbiased and give a true and honest test as they have no garage services to con you in to having any repairs done nor will they recommend anyone.
#21
I use such offers as a way of getting a cheap "pre MOT checkup"
The problem with council MOT centres is that they dont do repairs so u have to take your vehicle away and get it repair elsewhere unless its something very minor like bulbs, wipers etc.
#22
Avoid like the plague, especially in the Coventry area.

They failed me on loads of minor things last time and then claim they were all fully booked for the week so I could not get a free retest.

And then this year, they send me a offer for service & MOT offer for £99. Not wanting to be conned again, I made sure everything I can see was top notch and they did pass the MOT except they then put loads of items that while not a fail was dangerous on my service invoice.

I picked it up straight away it was a con as:

1. They say I need a cam belt change when my car have timing chain which does not need changing

2. They said I needed a brake fluid flush and change when I had a major service with them last year already that includes this. The brake fluid is suppose to be changed every 3 years as it clearly state in my service book.

3. They claim my brake pads and discs needs changing. I took it to Kwikfit where I watch them take it off and was informed they will last at least another year!
#23
They're always recommending changes such as brake fluid and cam belt without bothering to check the car's service history to see if they were recently done. They're just hoping their customers are ignorant and will agree to any repair that they advise.

Thanks guys. I've just cancelled my appointment now. not worth the risk of getting shafted when just trying to save money.

Voted Cold - NA are notorious for this.

Watch these con men. Had Autoquake warranty and they refused to change brake pads without changing the front discs, although the director authorised the change. Dropped my car off twice only later finding at the end of the day they haven't touched it. Went to another branch and same thing happened. The idiot there said to me did you know what happened to the formula one car?. The brakes exploded. bla bla bla. Yeah right my cars only 230bhp, what is a F1 car , 3 time as much and i don't to 200mph! Changed the pads myself for under £25. The discs were completely fine then, even after 12k miles they are still fine now. They also quoted me to strip down my manifold it (slight oil leak) would take over 2-5 hours. Done it myself in 30 mins and replaced the gasket for less than £10. Also tried to sell me MOT insurance, up to £600 paid towards part and labour. I wouldn't and haven't in the last 2 years stepped a foot into this place, even though I still have 2 years warranty remaining on my car.
