The latest Makro Mail (for offers between 16th and 29th July) has what they describe as a 50 Litre Autobin at £29.99 without VAT or I guess £35.24 with VAT.

It looks like it's stainless steel in the makro mail photo and says it's reduced from £54.99 to £29.99 (excluding vat).

The item description says;
- Infra Red sensor detection
- Effective range of approx 15cm

The item number is listed as 205753

This will be of limited appeal because you need a Makro trade card to enter any Makros store.

It is my first deal but don't hold back, I can take criticism!!

There's no image I can find to post, sorry

EDIT; It's on page 29 on this link (or click 'go to deal' and go to page 29;
http://www.makro.co.uk/servlet/PB/menu/1096930_pviewer_l2/index.html?view=jpg&item=1097480

It's hard posting a direct link when there is no available image (as I said in my post).

I also set it up so that anyone who was interested could at least view the Makro site so when they do load up Makro Mail 16 people may be able to see it then.

I did think the site was for posting deals and rating according to the value of the deal but I guess I'm wrong in that assumption then seeing that the post immediately gets a negative rating from some?

Don't worry about it, some people (sorry, most people) get a little stroppy if a deal is from a retailer they've never heard of, or doesn't have a picture for the simpletons (even if the post says a picture's not available), or if it's about blu-ray, or Sky, or some other product they hate for no apparent reason.

There you go....positive vote (because it's a reasonable price), to offset against the dope that requires a picture to stop him giving any deal a negative vote.

i've had one of these for about a year. great. you simply pass your hand over the sensor and it opens. no more touching dirty bins. ours was around the same price last year in makro. well worth the money

very lazy and not exactly very green. just get a pedal bin if you dont want to touch it.
#5
pedal bins have a tendancy to break in my house. :) too heavy footed perhaps

Bit of a pointless post IMO. If you're a Macro card holder then you've had the leaflet telling you about this offer. So you already know about it. If you're not a Makro card holder then you can't get into Makro to buy one anyway! Unless you're a business owner that is and you can then register to join Makro.

I know where you are coming from but you are not quite right.

I am a Makro card holder but only get the leaflet quite infrequently. I think the frequency is based on how often you have used your card.

Fair point but I thought it worth posting still because:

Not every Makro card holder gets the Makro Mail.

If you were interested in the deal you may know someone who has a card and you can ask them to get it on your behalf

those tv shopping channels do these cheaper, £20 + p+p £8 i think;-)

Thanks for this post! I have a card, I don't always use it - but I don't get the Makro Mail either! They often have some superb 'one offs' in there... Thaks will take a trip up there on the back of this post! I approve... Cat food here I come! Meeeeeeeeeeow....
#13
Fairy Nuff then.

To be honest this bin has been on offer almost every other Marco Mail Special. The metal is thin and the unit operation is flimsy...I thought I might give one a go but having un-boxed one in store thought it best to leave it there...I question how long the unit will work if it's used several times a day......

Sorry, i'm going to vote cold as the bin is not even worth £15.00......

I said I am NOT GOING TO BUY IT, I DIDNT SAY I WAS GOING TO VOTE COLD

I didn't say you voted it cold either :?

.... the post immediately gets a negative rating from some?

Ive got one of these bins and the only problem I have is trying to find the bin bags to fit as they are a tall slim bin so you don't have to bend over to get it to open. Anyone know of bags that fit these bins as the normal 50lt are too short.

Sounds great..but my only concern (generally) about these electro mechanical type bins is their likleihod of not working..I've had cat flaps(!) and stuff which were meant to work like this and were unreliable to say the least...overengineered maybe?

I bought one of these bins last year from makro and they are absolutely RUBBISH! The sensor makes it open every time you walk past and there's a really annoying rim on the inside top of the bin which makes pulling the bin bag out impossible and rips the bags if you pull too hard.

Biggest waste of money eva!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. We tried one a few years back when they first came out and it opened every time something went past. My dog thought she'd died and gone to heaven as she was presented with a snack every time she passed! Went straight back!

Bought one of these 4 years ago when Makro started selling them originally on special opening offer at just under £30. I liked the idea of never having to touch the bin but in truth you still have to because the lid starts to drop down slightly straight after its opened which means it doesn't leave a very large gap to scrape plates etc. My 3 young kids still regardless press the open/shut buttons on the front to get it to open quicker which to me totally defeats the object of having it! Be warned it also eats batteries (and it's those huge heavy expensive ones too!) but to be fair it's been okay over the years, just wouldn't have another if it broke etc....oh and yes there is the problem of it opening every time you walk past it!

You can see a picture of it here:

The Brabantia Sensor Bin is the better of the two but costs 3 times the price unless you can still get it on special offer at Amazon.

Macro is not aretailer. It's a wholesale business and you need to have a business to shop there. It's not like Matalan where everyone can become a member. Same goes for Costco, btw. This should be mentioned in the quote imo, so people don't waste their time (people like me who are not able to shop at those outlets). Because of not mentioning these fact I always vote cold for those offers; they don't exist (for me).

Not true:whistling: All you need is a boss who doesn’t mind you applying for a card in the company name:thumbsup:

It seems to me to be a mean thing to vote it cold because you didn't read the opening post correctly!:shock:

These bins are ****

We had one from MAKRO in January and took it straight back

You only need to be passing near it when the lid flips up with a loud motorised sound, this then wafts the smell of the bin contents out, and then it takes a while to actually close.

It seems a good idea, but it's actually the most annoying thing to have in the kitchen

Also, the bin is steel, but the lid and surround is actually chrome plated plastic. This will chip and wear quickly and its a nightmare to try and clean greasy marks off - it does not clean like stainless steel does.

Looks nice, may be an OK price, but I would avoid this bin at all costs!
