I saw a big sign by the shop and they said it will be for few days. Never traded myself so I don't know how good are their prices.

I doubt they will do both.
#3
Maybe it will be price match plus 50% of the difference between the 2 prices? I haven't seen it but seems more likely.
#4
think gs only match cash price not beat it ?
banned#5
I phoned my Gamestation a few weeks back and they told me they dont match any other prices. There prices are independant.
#6
...I was in there today and they matched CEX's trade in price - there was no mention of +50%
#7
Saw this today whilst in store. We was looking at trade in a bit a go and they never mentioned matching prices with other stores until we said no we can walk 1 min out of the shop and go in to CEX and get more :P
#8
Used to work in one - they will price match, usually need to see a print off of a receipt that another place has given you

What's the deal with the +50%? Does that go for consoles too? They were offering £150 trade for a 160GB slim ps3. +50% would be too good to miss.

Yes they said it is for everything. I am going to try them tomorrow and report back. I suspect that they have dropped the price for this. But I had no reference price to compare.

They did the last time I was in there, but only local stores (Game, Indys) and they'd beat it by £1, buying and selling price.

Thinking about trading COD. For cash, that could equate to money that I paid for it!

I've already tried to get the 50% extra on price matching - they DO NOT do both offers.

It's only one or the other - and Gamestation's normal trade in prices are low enough that you'll be most likely to benefit more from price matching instead of getting the extra 50%

Just print off screenshots from CeX

As ever, it's just a case of shopping around. Recently, I saw this deal so went to ask what they'd give me for the new Medal of Honor, they said £8. In Argos I got £18 for it.

Gamestation cash offers are terrible. An extra 50% probably wouldn't even bring it upto their instore credit value.

Cex price match is most likely the best method.
#15
Oh.... so the same trade in offers they were offering 4 years ago then? :P
#16
It's 50% extra only on game cash prices. So not on consoles or accessories.

Price matching can not be used in conduction with any other offer, so can not be combined with 50% extra too.

Why do a CEX pricematch? If CEX are more competitive to start off with, it's only fair that one uses them.

Your right, I think you'd be daft to cash in games anyway trade in are more worth it. But as a few people have said above, shop around.

hopefully I can get some decent prices.......but I highly doubt it knowing gamestation :|

You get the best trade in value from ebay by far...

Not always. I've worked it out in the past, and whereas I have sold some games on ebay, often I've been able to get more by pricematching Gamestation to CEX. That way, I also didn't have to worry about seller fees, waiting for 10 days, going to the post office, time wasters...
#22
Thanks for the info :)

my local price match cex no probs plus they beat it by a pound, they offered me 46 pounds for an old ds lite showed them the cex print out for 71 pounds and they gave me 72. same in the window for sale for less couldn't believe it

Haha, similar happened to me. They gave me £75 for a really rubbish iPod that they were going to give about £39 for. Next day it was in the window for just £76 to avoid selling at a loss, it was there for ages though, not sure if it ever sold.

Fair?? Firstly they aren't being more competitive for your sake its for their own!

Secondly, they tend to charge more for the games hence the increased trade in value. Far better off getting Gamestation to match trade in prices.

i bought fable 2 for £3 and traded it back in teh same shop for £8 3 weeks later. ker-ching!
terrible game though.

gamestation were doing a deal where you get £5 more per game when halo reach was released and i ended up getting £50 quid off legendary edition by trading in 6 very old games.
#27
link doesn't work?

If there's a Gamestation in the same town as a CEX you shouldn't have any issue getting them to beat the prices as they will be so used to doing it. I've used Basingstoke and Uxbridge countless times with no problem. You WILL need to take a print out of the price from their web page though, and as they have obviously had chancers, they may also double check themselves to prove it is a current print.

Ref the person who said it's pointlees getting rid of games for cash, instead of trade, i totally disagree. Gamestation, like many highstreet high overhead retailers hardly ever drop their prices of new games for a very long time (recent Xmas weekly specials aside as they are not the norm), wheras most games nowadays can be had for £20-£25 online ina matter of weks after release.

Often i'll get a deal, when the game still has a higher value at CEX, and then play it before getting GS to beat CEX and i either make profit, break even, or only lose out minimal outlay on the game.

Also, you may get say £25 cash instead of £28 credit, but i know i can without doubt make £25 go further away from that store, than i can make £28 go on their products, so for me it's a no brainer... Point in case, i recently got brand new copies of God of War 3 on PS3 and Blur on 360 from Currys for a total of £9.94.

I can't see this deal being played with a price match with CEX. I traded in my WII with a few games yesterday , GS offered initially 97 quid with CEX 163. GS price matched it and bettered by a quid. If i got 50% more cash on top of the price match of 163, that would make it an unbelievable deal, getting me over 200 quid.
#30
I was in Gamestation stor (Birmingham) yesterday, and was told they will not be price matching with other stores for this offer.
#31
I've always been told that they can only beat trade-in prices - not cash? They can't even price-match cash in either of my locals...
#32
Never heard of CEX before it sounds good, think i wiil sell my daughters ds lite and get dsi xl, is the stuff you buy from them new ? Thanks :D

CEX is all second hand and make sure to check what you buy in the store, they sell things in awful condition sometimes.

I got told this can it be right? so without the 50% it was £5.33 cash doesnt really maake sense, she said something about same cash and exchange values
banned#38
is it also 50% extra for instore
#39
why do you trade in?
Why not just sell on ebay?
or on here?
#40
because with ebay you get charged for putting the item on there then charged for Final value fee and charged with paypal fees.

where at GS I can get the same price as ebay with CEX price match without all the fees.
