In a desperate attempt to appeal to family travellers, low cost airline Ryanair have announced its new family product, Ryanair Family Extra, offering families a range of discounts on travel and an improved service on all flights.

With the new plans, families are offered fifty per cent allocated seating discounts on children’s seats, fifty per cent off checked-in bags for children and discounted priority boarding.

They also announced fifty per cent off travel insurance for children, reduced infant fees (now £20), a free 5kg infant bag allowance.

Travelled a few times with a little one with Ryanair and this definitely is what they needed to do. Always felt like it was jumping through hoops. They need to sort out their online check-in now. As 7 days before a flight (not trip) is really a case of money grabbing. If you go away for more than 7 days, you will have to find an Internet cafe and check in and print the boarding passes. Which is simple enough in some places but if you're on holiday, it's one more thing to sort out. Unless you pay for allocated seats prior.

Will they also offer earplugs to regular travelers?

starting when?

Honest Ryan air can DUCK off. Terrible service with non stop rubbish throughout the flight.
Don't even clean the planes in between passengers and the seats are still warm because they arrive late everytime. Then make up the time pretending they didn't and sound that stupid horn.

Earplugs? For the kids so they don't have to listen to the p*ssed up holidaymakers who get ratted at 6am in the airport I assume

Ryanair service depends on the country that you are flying to / departing from.

On my experience they are UTTER T***TS in UK but they were lovely in Spain.

May have been tempted to book the allocated seating for this year but it's only for new bookings. Shame it wasn't introduced before everyone had booked for this summer. It also allows 20% off a 3rd return booking in the same year

My daughter was sick in the aisle one year and I had to clean it up with tissues. They had no specialist cleaning items and didn't bother to get it up before the next people got on!

Ryanair are far from perfect, but it's a cheap flight usually, a bus with wings. Works for me

Good to see it is children up to 16 too :)

Could they just put all the screaming, badly behaved, manner deprived, parentally incompetent brats on one plane and let them just drive themselves nuts?

Is that for the deafening sound from the engines? We flew to Majorca and back and couldn't hear each other shout, never mind talk! We were happy we got home alive! Never again.

Is the 5kg infant allowance in addition to a pushchair ?
#15
I tried booking flights yesterday and there were no discounts for kids flights?

Isn't this 50% of the extras, not the fare?

Me too , if customers treat a plane ride like it's anything different than a bus ride then their deluded. Always the moaners on these Ryanair threads who I bet nine times out of ten forgot to print their passes or took a bag too large etc then want to blame anybody but themselves.
Its these same idiots who hold us all up when we are boarding .

Works for me too. I have traveled with my wife and four children a few times on Ryanair. Not perfect, but they took us to our destination and back, always given us priority boarding for free and in one occasion they've given us allocated seats for free when the plane was full so that we sit together. Good selection of food too & reasonable prices. Staff, despite their low pay compared to other airlines, were very polite and helpful.

If you don't like them pay the extra and travel with another airline, it's as simple as that. I will always snap a deal from Ryanair and will happily fly with them again.

Yeah, 50% off all the extras I don't buy anyway so no deal for me, just another Ryanair marketing gimmick. Anyway you rarely get decent price during holiday periods, they always rip you off then...

This is a little bonus for anyone about to travel with Ryanair. If not taking suitcases for all family members make sure you select 1 for an adult then 1 for a child (instead of 1 for each adult) gives 2nd case at half price.
#28
Would the discount still apply if I have already booked my baggage prior to June 17? We have tried to add 1 piece of luggage to my youngest child's booking, but nothing happens
