We've had an exclusive official tip off that on Friday 7 May Tesco.com is having a flash 2 hour 50% off ALL clothing sale. Now the details are still scant, but this is our best surmise so far (keep checking back for updates):

Likely to last two hours - though it could be a bit longer.

It'll be a code from Facebook so register NOW. Only people who 'Like' the Clothing at Tesco Facebook page before 11am on Fri 7 May are likely to get it - you'll also have to be registered with clothingattesco.com.

It'll be sent via Facebook. Sometime on Friday all fans will be sent a special 50% off discount code through Facebook which will be valid for a very short time on clothing only.

You will have a very limited time to get your items to the checkout so be quick with your code! There's a bulk-buy restriction of twenty of the same items per customer, and the code isn't valid with other offers or eCoupons. The offer excludes delivery, which is £3.95.

All Facebook fans will get the code on Friday, it will be valid for the first 6000 at checkout. After this the code will not be valid, therefore when you try to use it, it will not work. This will be made apparent before you finalise your transaction.

I don't know something not quite right about the facebook site

it has 410 million users so its fair to say its quite popular!

I have been on it for a few years, for me its really handy because I get to read the odd tidbit about old school friends / collegues (babies, marriages etc) without the need to be emailing / texting / phoning 250 people every week. You do get to control who is on your friends list and who can see you at all (only friends / some friends) so you dont have to panic about strangers seeing your details. My mum is 61 and she loves it, she spends half the day playing scrabble with friends and family. (which is free)

And yes there are quite a lot of deals etc from companies that use it to communicate with you, again if it gets on your nerves you can delete them with one button. And no prospective employers cant see your details ..... assuming you have used the very easy privacy settings on your account screen. Its no more unsafe than this website!

So here we go again another clothing sale, different company, same outcome, site will crash when the deal goes live, everyone will complain, some will rub it in, etc... can't be bothered myself.

Sorry should have been more clear... something about the clothing at tesco page within facebook doesn't quite fit for me, either that or it's a really poor marketing job. There's no Tesco logo anywhere and the text doesn't help:

"This is official Clothing at Tesco fan page. Giving you fashion that is on-trend, but at Tesco prices!

You and me both! :)

Especially when I hear the spate of people being killed recently because of something they had said on facebook. That chap actually flew all the way home from Australia because his ex put something about him - do they think that no-one else can read these things?

 In theory a good deal if you are available at the 2hr slot they have yet to release!!!!
 Downside is that you have to lower yourself to become sad enough to sign up to their so called 'Facebook' rubbish!
:whistling: Facebook in my experience causes many problems....and yes people you don't wish to, can gain access to your business inadvertently via friends, family etc

 Really bad marketing by Tesco ( Almost as awkward as their acceptance/non acceptanceof competitors conditional spend vouchers fiasco!!)
Would have been fairer to allow ALL customers to participate for say a whole 24hrs, then those of us who work or are busy can still benefit :-D
#21
This started yet?
#22
This is fake, imo.
Good wind up though !! get lots of people linked to your page

Tesco doesnt need to do any promo thru facebook or similar.
Lack of logo etc adds to this theory

Think I will steer well clear
#23
No one knows what it will be, just the blog details from the actual Tesco site:

For all those facebook spaz's who think as soon as you go on it someone will clone your identity and start watching you through their letterbox, there is a tesco blog here that talks about it:

http://blog.clothingattesco.com/2010/04/ff-frenzy-is-coming/

"You may have seen us talking about Friday Frenzy on Facebook and Twitter well it’s nearly here! But what is it you ask? Well next month we are half a year old and it’s as good an excuse as any to celebrate!

If you want to get involved all you need to do is become a fan of our Facebook fan page, and we will be sending out a fan update on the morning of Friday 7th May to reveal all!

Keep an eye on our blog and Facebook page, as more will be revealed in the next week.. we promise it will be worth the wait!

Intrigued? What do you think we have planned? "

There have been lots of rumours flying around about what our Friday Frenzy is all about, so we want to set the record straight for all our fans.
We had planned to release details on Friday morning, but as there’s been so much excitement and talk about the promotion already (including a mention on this morning’s GMTV), we thought we should let you know the facts now.
This Friday 7th May:
We’ll be rewarding 6,000 of our Facebook fans with 50% off

Here are a few pointers ahead of the big day to make sure you are prepared:
1 – Make sure you are a fan of our Facebook fan page (all you need to do is press the like button to become a fan) only fans will receive the exclusive status update revealing the code and time it goes live… keep your eyes peeled as this will be sent out on Friday morning
2 – Only 6,000 fans will be able to use the 50% off deal at tesco.com/clothing, but don’t worry – there’ll also be a treat announced for everyone else…
3 – Friday will probably get very busy, if you do have problems accessing the site please try again and be sure to leave yourself plenty of time to shop and checkout
4 – We advise registering on the site beforehand, here is the link
5 – Last but not least make sure check out our terms and conditions, before you take part
Until Friday, we can’t wait!

 O.M.G after reading the various lead up posts to this BIG EVENT, I really cannot be bothered, it reminds me of the madness that occurs when 'NEXT' have a sale & all the saddos queue up outside hours before the store opens, lifes too short I'm afraid. Good luck to any of you LUCKY?? 6000 ! ;-)
#39
Is this on sale items too?
#40
Want to change my hot vote to cold now they have announced only the first 6000 people. Can't believe a multi-billion pound company can't afford to do it. Stinks. How do you unlike it on facebook?
