wow thanks for the input!

good deal, hot vote from me!!

Some great deals, I've ordered a few over the last few days. Don't order more than 2 at a time otherwise you could get hit with customs charges.

HD DVD is far from dead, people saying that really don't know what they are talking about.
#6
Yep HD-DUD is so dead, might be worth waiting a little longer as they will be giving them away soon.

Ok the $10.99 price you mention is an Amazon seller which is still not a bad price except you forgot to mention the $12.29 shipping cost!

£23.28 for a HD movie does not sound so HOT to me!

MM

By the way Amazons own price is $14.95 and I believe that does include international shipping!

Remember HD is a dying format so for those who are willing to wait the prices on HD movies will only get lower as the retailers try to off load there stock!

Maybe if you got your maths correct it would still be slightly hot, $11 = £5.65, $12.29 = £6.30
Therefore £6.30 + £5.65 = £13.95, which is still abit of a rubbish price.
I dont think amazon include internation shipping in the base price of the product, only when you get to final checkout, think its about £3 per order, + £2 for each additional item, and you wait about 2 months to get the stuff.

As for people stating HD is dead...why read about its deals then, if youre not interested in a supposedly dead format? are you really that bored, sad and lonely?
At the end of the day blu ray is only standing a chance because so many people in the world play computer games, so have a PS3, otherwise it would be caput...It's really good how people brag about how their console can play blu ray, and it's so good, but they don't brag that they are likely moribidly obese from sitting around playing ps3 and blu ray all day.

Be sure to make sure your order stays under about £30 or you'll attract the attention of the HM customs & nazi's. But some great deals to be had on amazon.com site for both Bloohooray & HD

The limit is actually £18, so you don't want to be ordering items that came to more than $35 in total (excluding postage).

This is a good deal, just wish I had some money left to buy some of them!

Wrong!

America: Despite aggressive price promotions on HD DVD players from Toshiba, sales of Blu-ray Disc players continued to outsell HD DVD units by a wide margin through the week ending January 26, according to leaked NPD Group reports,
Dedicated Blu-ray Disc player sales, which omit video game consoles, represented 65 percent of unit volume share during the period and 69 percent of retail sales dollars, according to the leaked data. HD DVD players accounted for 28 percent of hardware unit sales and 14 percent of overall HD disc retail dollars.

=======

Japan: Japan’s Business Computer News are showing that over the last 3 months Blu-Ray has been crushing HD, it looks like the high definition war is over in Japan looking at the figures. 90% of standalone player sales were Blu-ray and that does not even include the PS3 (which we know makes up many more people with Blu-ray).
=======

Europe:

Surveys taken by GfK in the second week of January 2008 reveal that two times more Blu-ray players were sold than HD-DVD players -- and that is not even including sales of PlayStation 3

hi people but you all forget one thing vhf video beat the better format beta max as the porn industry only used the cheaper format. Blue ray has already banded porn on its format so no producers can record to it and hd dvd has wecomed it with open arms I think hd dvd will be around for a long time and blue ray better look out.

This is utter tosh(!) and you know it.

All these sales stats are survey-based, not actual sales. They exclude online sellers such as Amazon and as Amazon have been shifting more of most things than any "surveyed" retailer, to extrapolate sales figures excluding online sales is plain daft:whistling:

So will everyone and then the future of HD-DVD will be likened to the raising of Lazarus:p

Blu-ray will make a great storage medium for the PC tho'!

Have you tried to buy a Hd dvd in Woolworths (overpriced), despite having 10 cases on display they could not find the disks:?
#27
low quality film on high quality media, good film tho.

Bluray and hd dvd will die they are both over hyped and over priced, next year it will be fully legal digital downloads or some such nonsense and the geeks and technophiles will still be arguing whilst their super duper bits of kit gather dust under the tv.

Voted cold might as well just grab the dvd from blockbuster for 1.99 or whatever bargain bin price its at... oo oo maybe not as i really must see each individual snow flake in absolute perfect more real than real quality. Bleh

P.s no sales figures are fact if you really believe they are you really are dumb. 90% of the Japanese market bought bluray hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahhhhaa what tosh

Who gives two figs about which format is best when you can order a movie for less that 15 bucks. Fill your boots with what you can.
#30
A good deal but will not have any sell on value due to the forthcoming death of HD-DVD.
#31
If Blutamax is no1, it will be the second time in history that an inferior format wins the video format war.

LOL yeah I'm watching die hard 4 in blu ray now and just beforeit started I was warned that my player was not the latest firmware or something and that I might need to upgrade the firmware for 'optimal viewing' the standard still isn't finalised! Hd DVD has never had issues like this its so much more reliable to watch which is why I think its a shame warner went blue

The porn industry would rather stay away from hd as it makes it easier to see imperfections in the women.

only difference between HD DVD and Betamax is sony will actually win one for a change:w00t:
ppl have to face facts thats HD DVD is dying a slow painful death, if ppl cant see that, well may i suggest u pop along to your nearest nut house and book yourself as u clearly aint got a clue what u talking about

even so, I'd still rather buy into the better technical format, which is also cheaper too! That's HD DVD by the way.

If blueray wins then it's no loss.

Might I suggest you fanboys enter what you keep posting into your signitures. It would save you a hell of alot of time typing in every HD DVD thread, you could watch more movies then!

I really dont get what the 'war' is all about anyway. I bought HD DVD, and Blu ray player, as if you read reviews on the web, the films on both formats have better transfers on either the blu ray, or HD DVD format. Therefore just go for the better transfer, or cheaper disc; whichever you prefer. i am well happy with both to be honest!

I agree with the earlier poster though who made a good point, if this thread is about HD DVD, then why do the haters even bother to read it, let alone post on here??????
#40
Can I assume one thing please?

I assume that the people who would be MOST INTERESTED in this deal and have voted HOT have ALREADY PURCHASED the hardware and so this deal is for SOFTWARE only. As such, the arguements over the relative benefits of rival formats is a moot point.

There is no point in the the BD camp adding more hot air to this thread when the arguements have raged in the hardware deals, when, lets face it the benefits and longevity of a format have more of an influence. The only people likely to buy on this deal have a HDDVD player and are unlikely to want to purchase another format.

VOTED HOT.

p.s. the porn thing is a load of old tosh too. Just google "adult bluray" or "adult hd dvd" if you want to buy 1080p porno (or download like everyone else haha)
