hot for me love a nice rare steak from a quality butcher

That's Christmas dinner sorted then! Turkey free zone in our house :)

I would sooo love to try it.

But they freeze the meat and it always taste different to me if meat has been frozen.

Seems a bit unfair to get a cold vote from someone because they don't eat meat. That's like voting cold on a bargain just because I don't need it, can't afford it, or just don't like the particular smell or colour of, etc. Heat added, just to balance the world out a little bit!

Agreed, I'm voting hot. I'm a veggie and this is still a great deal. My DH loves Donald Russell meat and always stocks up on the steaks when there is a 1/2 price deal on. Excellent meat.

They don't freeze the meat if you ask. And if they do freeze it, its "shock frozen" which they reckon has less of an effect.

I tried this pack of steak earlier this year and was very impressed with it. Whether it was the "best steak I had ever tasted" as they claim is very debatable (Ruths Chris in Pittsburgh is the best steak I have ever had)

As for voting it cold just cos you're a veggie, just wait until carrots are next on offer at Aldi - its going sub zero

Looks amazing...I'm guessing when it says 2 fillet steaks min weight 160g it means per steak, therefore being 320g of fillet?
#10
for those that didnt know price is 31 pounds including delivery

But each to their own. Personally, that photo is making me very hungry for some good grub.

Sub-zero carrots at Aldi soon... Love it..

I`m a chef and hate veggies....Love it..

Have some heat. Not too much as not wanting this thread to be burnt.

Mmmm, steak!

Money's too tight for steak.

This is red hot! Anyone who has not had this cannot comment. I had this deal a couple of weeks ago and I swear I will never buy a steak from a supermarket again!! I urge anyone to give it a go if you love steak. It looks expensive initially and is vacuum packed but their meat is properly reared and hung, beautifully packaged and delivered perfectly and the steaks are not only a generous portion but taste absolutely out of this world - perfection. I thought I knew everything about steaks until I had this and (call me sad) watched the video and tips on their website to cook to perfection. My only regret is that I didn't get more at the time, but I'm getting more - Ribeyes and Fillets on a different deal for christmas(£30 for 6!!). Treat yourself, it works out cheaper in the end, the proof is in the tasting. :-D:-D

Well done to OP for posting. I've relied on family to keep me in the loop about Donald Russell deals. This is the first time I've seen a post for these.

thanks for this, just ordered 2 lots, been needing an excuse to try their steaks and this is it, order coming on 16th, just in time for Christmas

Had an offer from this butcher before, it's absolutely amazing beef!

no, that means 2 x 80g steaks (i.e. 2 x 3oz steaks)

You won't be disappointed. I would say though that the portions are big once cooked, don't shrink like other steaks I've had and that when you see the 4 medallions shock frozen looks like it would only do one portion but be warned - easily enough for two people or even four if you have a mixed grill. I made the mistake of having all of them to myself whilst hubby and daughter had the fillets. Not that you'de want to spoil the taste of these steaks with other meat cos they're just mmmmmm........................on their own!! Enjoy!!

Indeed. Very, very expensive even at 'half price'.
#25
Excellent quality and price. Ill give it a miss though as we dont eat a lot of steak.

It's quality not quantity that counts :whistling:
#27
just wandering if this steak is delivered frozen?
and if so does it still taste good?
i am a big steak lover but think frozen steak has a funny taste to it.
#28
the cows are legging it as we 'speak'!

so hot it could be spicy!:-D
#29
The 50% off is completely made up. It's still expensive and never sold at the supposed retail price.

It is, but don't be put off. There is no funny taste with this meat. I'm dead fussy, and tight, but I don't mind paying for this - it's much tastier than anything you'll buy from Waitrose

How can anyone find this good value? an 80g is not enough for 1 person!
#32
oh, 7% Quidco too.

Maybe so, but I can get a 300g steak from a top restaurant for £22, and that is cooked and they do cleaning too... Really not that hot guys... If the weights are individual sizes however, amazing!
#34
Voted hot and I'm a veggie, but the rest of the family love these steaks. Don't forget 7% at Quidco!
#35
Anyone know which courier delivers it?

So you eat human as well then - we're made out of meat too. :p
#37
Very tempted, especially seeing there's 7% Quidco as well. I usually buy my steak from blue-stripe butchers which have always been very good quality. Does anyone know if these steaks are even better maybe?! :-D
#38
mumbojumbo
Still expensive for frozen steak. This is the price you'd normally expect to pay for fresh, chilled steak to be couriered.

This is true I expect it is nice quality though. The 50% off thing is just a gimmick to make them sell. You get this offer on a flier when you order from Amazon, along with the free case of wine "deal".

This is not a Deal, just the standard price.
#39
Looks a good deal but the jargon is funny; -

"grass fed" - What else do they eat?
"naturally reared" - I didnt know i'd been eating battery beef!
and the best one of all ... . . "professionally shock frozen"! - Classic!!

:thumbsup:If you like good meat, try BIGBARN for where to get goodies local to you, for instance we have several rare breeds farms near us that sell glos old spot, tamworths etc etc, by the pound, sausages et al, lamb, hoggets, 1/2 a sheep etc, 1/2 a pig whol;e pig etc.
you can even name, visit your pig to be fattened & slaughtereed if you wish!
..we are smoking food, making sausages etc, so it's ideal for adventurous cooks, & people who like locally produced quality meat to a better standard.
Just a thought as this thread has brought out a few steak gourmets!

PS voting cold just cos your veggie is a bit preachy & pious whoever that was!
..nice riposte by the carrot hater! ;-)
