It costs them money to send it and most companies make aren't making a profit on them so are starting to charge.

I accepted that for a while but then I realised that stock is always going to the stores daily so it's not a big thing to warrant a further charge IMO.

Requires picking, packing, extra admin work and logistics.

All costs money.

Except the click and collect stock doesn't get delivered with the normal deliveries. Tesco c+c is sent via courier for example. If c+c items were sent with normal deliveries they'd be lost in boxes on cages out back for days
