Called Vodafone to enquire about upgrade's today. I was previously on a £35 p/m tariff with 500 mins / 1000 texts.

I was going to cancel but the rep advised there is a deal coming up in next few days (but could put me on the tariff today as it was already on their systems) which was £25 p/m 500 mins / 500 texts but an additional promo which you get if you sign up in the next month doubles your texts for the full contract. Making it 1000 texts.

Additionally, have got a HTC Touch Diamond phone (worth £499) for free.

I thought it was a good deal, cue negative comments here...

: )

EDIT: They also offered me the Blackberry Storn, Nokia Navigator and pretty much every other top selling phone (including the Tocco) for Free - additionally the "non" smartphones such as the Tocco were £20 per month for the same deal!

Additionally, they have a unlimited data bundle bolt on (not the place) for £5 per month!

Length of contract???
#3
Sorry yes this would have been helpful

Is meant to be 18 months - however if you don't mind staying on Vodafone, you can upgrade within last 70 days on contract...

I was on 12 month, and argued the toss and got this for 12 months also - I think it's down to luck a bit, the guy I spoke to was pretty cool!

I called vodafone having seen their business tariffs and handsets (Blackberry Bold)...Was offered a free Blackberry Bold, 700 mins, 200 texts...£39.99 on a 12 month contract. Best deal I've seen for this phone on a 12 month contract.
#5
and i believe vodaphone unlock all phones free of charge now dont they? so keep the phone like normal after contract.
#6
I was have re-renewed my contract with Vodafone...18 mth contract Free Samsung Omnia, 600 mins, unlimited texts, internet and landline calls for £35 per month

Dont forget £90 Quidco - Cashbackkings.

I don't use much of text.. is it possible I can get more minutes and bring my texts down? Is this offer available for new subscribers?

I think they will tailor the deal slightly, but for most 500 mins is more than ample! With this usually being a business phone I am sure there is some flexibility there

It looks like this is for upgrades only, not for new business so the £90 cashback probably won't track.

Is the phone any good? I am due to upgrade in the next few weeks.

You're correct - I think this is only upgrades...

From what I understand, as HSPDA's go this is the bogs dollocks...however the battery life isn't fantastic...Vodafone give you a 14 day trial period though so if I don't like it am going to send back and get the blackberry storm instead!

It's got 4GB of internal memory too, so it's no Iphone but you could manage to store a fair bit of data, 7.2 mbps connection (faster than my IBM Thinkpad, and loads of other gadgets etc (WiFI Sat Nav, 3 / 3.5G

I havent used it yet, so can only go from what I have been told - but I am told good things, check out the demo on youtube!

I asked about the N96 / N95 8GB - he said I could get the N95 for free, but went on to talk about the many bugs and bad reviews on it...he also advised that this was common in the N series so I got kind of put off...but I think you could get an N96 if you asked.....

Cheers, heat and rep left.

good deal for that price,
quick review of the phone:
+good hardware specification with build in Satnav, wifi....
+small compare to other smart phone
---battery life is too short while they provide you such power sucking device and they didn't provide the car charge, your phone will be dead be4 you reach your destination if you use satnav, you end up in the middle of nowhere with no nav and phone for help! YOU WILL NEED TO SPEND 100 POUNDS MORE ON CAR CHARGER AND HOLDER AND SATNAV SOFTWARE LIKE TOMTOM if you want to use the satnav (in this case why not just buy a TOMTOM :).
---software sucks, they try to copy iphone's cool 3d interface but fail, slow and slagish stupid interface. belive me you will feel annoyed after using the phone for just 3mins. HTC need to spend more time to learn from Apple not just copy the idea. HTC: building a good phone is not just putting high spec hardwares together!!

I will strongly suggest you borrow one to try the interface be4 you buy

I've had similar concerns myself - but the deal isn't just on the phone, it's the tariff which is sweet - in my first post i mentioned that they offered pretty much any top selling phone with this (obviously you're not gonna get an Iphone)

There is also the 14 day trial, which if you're not happy you can return the phone, they put you back on the same old contract and you can pick a different phone!

All round it's a good deal not sure why so cold really!

It;s probably more down to the bloated windows mobile OS rather than HTC's fault. If this was a symbian v9.2 phone I would snap it up instantly.

I am on vodafone and currently due an upgrade. Does anyone know if they would offer the touch pro on this deal? A quick call tomorrow evening will find out, but I would be interested to know if anybody else got one.

This is a great phone and because it uses Windows mobile you can add software and update it just like a pc making it very versatile.

Only negative I have is battery life, which will last no more than a day.

Don't be one of the Iphone geek masses, get a classy phone, from a company thats be doing touch phones for a long long time (HTC).
