Don't know if this is only local to my ASDA (Glenrothes), but went in there today and in their reduced-to-clear frozen section (aisle front-end), the absolute best deal they had was 500g of frozen chickpeas for 10p. The best price I've ever gotten for 400g (with water) in a tin has been 33p, so this is a great deal for those who love some garbanzos with their chianti ;-) 40p for two kilos of chickpeas can't be beat!

Good price!

Athough surely these are fair amount heavier than the dried stuff what with carrying all that extra weight in water?

Hmm, I have no idea, though I know that what you get in the cans is really something like 280g drained?

I buy them dried and although I love making my falafels, its alot of messing about. Soak chickpeas overnight, boil and simmer for about an hour. All that effort when you can just defrost the amount you want. Tinned makes them far too mushy.
