Personally I wouldn't risk buying a generic brand hard-drive. You might just get what you pay for. Things to bear in mind with hard-drives are heat-tolerance, seek speed, shock tolerance and failure rate. I hope that there's no problems for those that buy it though.

Much better going to Ebuyer and getting a Samsung Spinpoint 500Gb SATA II 16mb - theyre very quiet and a great buy for £59 delivered.

You can use one of those, but dont think its SATA II (300Mb/s) capable? Might be, looks a bit vague from the description. Reviews seem to be a bit confused about it too.

I have an ICYBOX and it ooozes quality, theyre metal with no fan so quieter, and better build quality. You do pay a lot more though, but this one supports eSATA if you have it on your computer which means you dont use USB but instead a direct link at SATA speeds :)http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=576349 £35 ouch!

a) You would be stupid to pay such a price for a lame generic harddrive which will undoubtedly perform worse than a branded hdd..
b) For £3 more you can get a top of the range Seagate hdd
