Sorry, not a good price

the difference is the seagate one is FAR better than the the iomega one, both in operation speed and noise levels.

I have both and my seagate one is impossible to hear even with the ear right next to it, the iomega one i can hear from the next room. The seagate one also has a 5yr warrenty, with a hard drive which is highly prone to failing this is quite an offer.

Also a £7 discount code can be used from the latest maplin catalogue. making this £68 and a cracking deal

Those who say this is not a good price are idiots! Seagate FreeAgent external harddrives are probably one of the best external harddrives you can get. This being priced at £10 more over just a bare Seagate harddrive of the same capacity is a steal! Voted hot especially with the £7 code!

These Seagate drives are excellent, quiet and fast but best of all with a 5 year warranty. Granted the appearance may not be to everyones taste but at least you cant fry the drives by stacking them on top of each other. Unbeatable value for £68.

I and a collegue at work have these seagate drives, both been working great for months, we have 3 of those WD drives in the IT dept, one has died already.

Thats not a reason to buy either really, but with the above mentioned seagate 5 year warranty I would be more confident with going for one of those myself.

Hi - I'm looking to get an external hard disk - either this one or the WD mybook as at the moment I'm backing up to DVD's.

However, having read cases of failures in the seagate and WD am I correct in thinking that these are more for expanding you computers workspace and further backup is still advisable?

Better price unit here and a deal if you can collect it. I bought 3 the other and have started converting all my DVD's - woohoo
