Just ordered the Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 500G 3.5" External Hard Drive for in-store pickup. Was given the Studio Edition instead. Not sure if this is because that is all they had in stock, but still payed £59.78 for it at the till. Should be £109.99 in store!

Good deal.. but won't be nationwide, just a one off I reckon. Staff member probably messed up and picked up the wrong item

Must be a mistake by the member of staff picking the item and the one on the till failing to check. I had no such luck yesterday! Item is cheaper at eBuyer - £49.99 and free delivery, when I looked - but I needed one urgently as my Toshiba external (housing a WDC drive I hasten to add) was intermittantly but more frequently failing to start spinning.

I must say I prefer the Toshiba's metal case incorporating a separate power switch. The My Book is on all the time when the USB is plugged in to a powered-up computer and the shiny black plastic picks up finger prints at the slightest touch.

I had thought of swapping casings but the Toshiba housed a EIDE drive, while I'm sure the My Book will be SATA - that's apart from the fact that the My Book has no screws and there are a mutlitude of different disassembly configurations on the net for different vintages of case.
