**To get this price click on the "Today Only" tab at the top right of the Scan website.

***edited to add scan only offer free delivery for orders above £25. Simply add a sata cable, ethernet cable, audio cable, fan etc to bump the price above £25.

This is a great graphcs card for any Media PC. It is completely silent (no fans) and will allow viewing/trancoding of 720P/1080P High Definition video without the need for an expensive CPU. I have two Media Centre PC's with 5450's and cheop E3200 processors inside and they provide flawless playback of any video I throw at them. Even 20-30Mbit/s H264 is silky smooth.

It offers HDMI, DVI and VGA outputs which can all be used at once (to 3 monitors) if needed.

This card is NOT good for gaming, so don't expect to play Crysis on it. For surfing, watching videos it is great.

It's below the free delivery requirements btw. I think it has to be over £25...

You are correct. To get free delivery you will need to add an item of £1.01 or higher. SATA cables, audio jacks, ethernet cables, fans etc should be okay.

On the website it states Low Profile Compatible but not Low Profile Support. If i were to stick this in a low profile machine would it work, they usually supply you with a few back plates but cant see this advertised ?
#4
Does it carry audio over HDMI?
#5
Personally I would pay the extra £5.50 for the Sapphire version which definitely comes with a low profile bracket and isn't XFX.

However this is super-cheap so hot from me.

HD5450 cards with HDMI will do HD sound over HDMI yes.
#6
Is this any good for video editing?

It certainly does. All 5xxx series cards do.
#8
I owned this card a while back. It was very good from what I remember. Definitely a steal at this price. Have some heat!

Like to add my two cents. Bought one of these from buyer a week or two ago.

XFX's website is a bitch. You need to register before you can access drivers and any kind of support section. Had a bit of hassle getting the ATI Catalyst installed properly by did it in the end.
Card itself is pretty good, runs quite cool and has a low power consumption. Is definately an improvement over integrated plays 720/1080p well. However for any kind of gaming avoid this and get something else. You can get HD4650 in the same price bracket with better gaming power.

Voted hot because it's cheap and plenty better than integrated.

It should be fine because it draws very little power and your Dell has the necessary PCI-E slot.

I find it best to download ATI (AMD) drivers direct fron the AMD website http://www.amd.com. The 4650 is a fastrer gaming card but it costs ~£40 and tends to have a noisy fan. Most also lack HDMI ports which are essential for a modern media based pc. The 5450 above is just about the perfect card for non-gaming purposes.

ouch, glad I bought an NVidia XFX card then, Official NVidia drivers are all you need...
#13
This is more of a straight upgrade from a HD4350. Don't expect much, should play most games decently on medium-low settings.
Video editing would vary (depends more on your CPU than GPU and how intensive your task is), though it should be decent- just don't take my word for it.

If you're setting up a HTPC, this should be more than enough. It'll be able to play high resolution videos perfectly.

Um....AMD has an official website to also download drivers for their own cards? :|

Might pick one up cheers

No Display Port output, I am not certain it can really manage 3 monitors.

I think its one of the requirements for Eyefinity.

You need to click Buy on the XFX 512MB card in the Today Only page. Why OP didn't use that for the go to deal link I do not know. Here it is: http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx?_s_icmp=AkaIX3H4

I've read many forums and no one else has had a hassle with the Sapphire 5450 and always recommending it to others.

I only had to add a usb cable of 14p for it to show the free delivery, total was £24.98 in the end (it added 85p for something unknown)

I ordered exactly the same as you and the 85p added was for Scans installation insurance which is added automatically unless you select the 'no' option.
I believe it covers you for any accidental damage to the item for a period of time(?) whilst you install the item in your PC. :)
Net Total £20.11
Carriage £0.00
VAT £4.02
Scansure Inc IPT £0.85

Thanks for the deal Orville :)

Perfect for a media centre no noise, great price not so good for gaming though!! But whe do u expect for under £25:)
#29
The 6450 is out now too (probably only a little more than this) but is twice as powerful if you wanted to play world of warcraft or some games in low settings

Cracking price though

I found this link: http://www.hwcompare.com/372/geforce-gt-310-vs-radeon-hd-5450/ but still unsure if they're much different

Price is still £23.99. Try this link and search for "5450". Scan do not allow direct linking to Today Only items. You have to access them from the Today Only page and click the "buy" button there.

Agreed, but it is worth noting that the 6450 has a fan and thus will make noise (not a lot, granted). Whereas this card is passively cooled so is silent, which is certainly a deal breaker for me.

I have this card and it's fantastic for my purposes, I'm able to bitstream audio over HDMI to my receiver which is great for this low price. A steal.

G310 is probably a bit below the GT 220, where as the GT 220 is about on par, perhaps a bit better then this 5450.
The 5450 is only slightly better then the G310, so its not really worth it for you to buy this. There is pretty much nothing that you can do with the 5450 that you wouldn't be able to with the G310. If you really want to upgrade to do a bit of light gaming or something, go with something like a 5750. :)

Thanks for your reply. I'll have a look into it. I'm not personally interested in gaming and just want good graphics for general browsing and videos. One thing I am looking for though is the option for 3 monitors though rather than the 2 I have capable at the moment.

You would probably not see any improvement with it when watching videos or just generally doing simple tasks, the G310 can do this just as easily as the 5450. However, if you do want 3 monitors then the 5450 would be a good choice as it can support the 3 displays. :)
