i would not say they are a better psu. in my opinion i have used the corsair one a few years ago the fans noisy it broke down in a month of installing got a replacement and the same happened again. ocz is not that perfect noisy fan etc, i have used xfc on two other rigs with no faults.

Both mentioned are cheap entry level products and worse quality than the xfx. This psu is very likely made by seasonic, has all solid caps, super strong 12v rail and 5 years guarantee.restrain from comments about psu next time, please:)

Agree with 7, the XFX range is actually quite good (which may be surprising as their reputation for graphics cards isn't the best)

Not had an XFX one but OCZ ones are crap. Bought one and it died in a month, got it replaced that lasted two months. I then got my money back and bought a Corsair which i have had over 12 months with no problems and i rate them very highly.

This is a good buy. This used to be £65 at Maplin IIRC. XFX PSUs are supposed to be very good. It's 44Amps on the 12V rail... that's a lot of juice for graphics cards and the like. For comparison, the 600w corsair has a 40Amp +12v rail. This XFX range has a lot of +12v ampage for it's power rating, so don't just go off the overall wattage rating.

Of course there are other decent PSUs for about this price, but if you want to be able to walk into a high street store and pick up a powerful gaming PSU (not sure it would do SLI) for £47, this is a good bet.

And the 5 year warranty is unmatched by the other PSUs at this price. Hot.

Ah, looks like they ended the "DISCOUNT3" code to get £3 off any order over £30. Or at least it didn't work for me just now.

Still a decent price at £49.99.

i got till tomorrow to pick mine up if i can find a psu with same spec same price i may consider another but as i have had bad experience with other brands and xfx has always been ok for me and my budget for now is < £50 im 80% sure i will get this one for now. i need one to power 2 Hard drive (disk) 2 SSD 3 fans a intel quad-core cpu plus i have 4 external hard drives a web cam 2 wireless mouse plus all the other bits n bobs. my UPS tells me i am averaging 180 WATTS power usage.

Ah right, I don't have an account. The codes used to work without one before, also they used to give out the same £3/ £7 vouchers (paper versions) in store when you buy something.

Still, if you can get vouchers via having an account, seems worthwhile. Thanks for the info.

I'm looking at this PSU to replace mine, but it doesn't really mention any DB ratings that I can see for noise.

Anyone got any suggestions for a really quiet PSU? I'm currently using an Antec which was quiet to begin with but has progressively got noisier as time has went on.

It's an Antec 450W that came with the case, so it's not one of their premium ones, it's pictured here http://www.gamestunts.com/?page_id=249 .

The cables have since been tidied away more, and I regularly clean it out for dust, but it just seems louder these days. I even have Evga precision underclocking the 560 Ti so that I can run the fan quieter on that, but this PSU just gets loud, and if it's heat related, we're coming into the summer :)

Any suggestions welcome. Voted hot for this deal because XFX do seem good for PSUs :)

i think if you look at the operating temps of the psu anything over this if you dont have enough cooling in the case in my experience will cause the fan to speed up have a look on the XFX site for the spec http://goo.gl/JgEdv

    from the website
    Continuous Power
Wattage and heat go hand-in-hand. Other PSUs claim a certain wattage by using unrealistic testing environments like 25°C, but in real settings, they might reach much lower wattages. XFX PSUs guarantee the advertised wattage, even at well above standard operating conditions at 50°C.

    Clean Power
Power drawn from your AC outlet is typically dirty with voltage spikes and fluctuations, which can harm vital PC components. XFX PSUs are designed to deliver tight DC voltage regulation with minimal AC ripple, giving you safer, cleaner power.

    Efficient Power Use
80 Plus Bronze certified means that this XFX PSU has an 85% power efficiency. Compare that to non-certified PSUs, which lose at least 20% of power drawn. With the XFX PSU, get every watt you pay for.

    Extreme Heat Tested Capacitors
Internal PC operating temperature is around 35°C but the internal PSU temperature can be much higher. XFX uses all high-quality Japanese brand capacitors rated to withstand up to 105°C. While some competitors claim to use Japanese capacitors, they may only be rated for 85°C, which can shorten the usable life of a PSU.

    Automatic Protection Sensors
All XFX PSUs come with automatic output protection systems to protect you and your computer. This includes Total Power Protection (OPP), Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Over Current Protection (OCP) and Short Circuit Protection (SCP)
