Hope this is a different one to the Curtis that was panned when sold by Currys with mass returns.
From memory that was the DVD1000 - don't know what model number this one is, but worth checking.
#8
i am sure there is a thread in here to make these multi region for bluray as well as dvd region

So really this should be posted at £69.97 because codes are not supposed to be used in title prices. The op should know better.

Perfectly fine to use price after voucher as long as its available for everyone.. the £10 off £50 voucher is a generic one I guess (works once / customer) :)

True. You can create a new account as well and use it as many times as you wish.
#13
whats the disadvantages of this player? would like to know because although i have ps3 id like a player for my living room aswell.
#14
Good price for a Blue Ray player! now if this played DivX as well would be an even better option!
#15
does anyone know, is this any good? i use a ps3 for blu rays at moment but no point in keeping it if this is just as good??
#16
HDMI Upscaling No

Does this mean that it won't upscale standard DVDs, I thought all the blu-ray players did that?
#17
available for collection from wednesday 7th April.
#18
Word of warning this player will not play all blu-ray discs. The firmware cannot be upgraded nor does it play all blu-ray profiles.
#19
Anyone know if this will play DivX or MKV files via USB?

It cannot be upgraded to Profile 2.0. I don't know any other disadvantages cos I couldn't be bothered to Google like you :p

It will upscale DVD according to this thread http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-ray-players/934506-curtis-dvd1100uk.html

PS3 does the job so point in buying for a replacement. At least the PS3 plays Divx/Xvid etc as well ;)

May not be upgradeable online....try the Sony 360 at Comet for £89.99 (just out of stock but will hit that price again): http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/560430/SONY-BDPS360B.CEK

Heat and rep. a multiregion dvd and blu-ray player with usb for BD live. I have the non usb version and it's a great player. You made my day.

I don't understand what all the hype is over blu ray. I sold my Sony blu ray player on eBay as I never really thought that the picture quality was all that much better than my £9.99 DVD player. Do yourself a favour and don't bother wasting money on blu ray players as they are not as good as some people make out.

It depends on your set up. A screen smaller than 40" and you might not notice significant differences. But for me I really do notice for picture and sound. and your statement is laughable. Ignore an entire media system because you can't tell the difference? :whistling:

taking a risk and will be collecting it tomorrow. Can be return if it is not worthwhile anyway.

I have a 50" Full 1080p HD TV and there is very little difference between the blu ray player and a £9.99 DVD player so it is not laughable. You are the one laughable at spending money on a blu ray player.

if you are saying there is no difference between a blu ray and a dvd then
either you had it set up wrongly or your eye sight may be at fault.

either way you are wrong.

Got it today. This supposdly can be firmware updated by burning firmware onto disc but where do i download the firmware?

This it? http://www.blu-ray.com/firmware/firmware.php?id=41

I used this on mine http://www.curtisint.com/support/manuals.asp?category=&subCat=&catName=&p=4

Incidentally for those looking at this, it doesn't have the usb socket as pictured. Just the standard version. So no BD live but everything else is fine.

I had it set up right I can assure you of that and my eye sight is perfect. I am not saying there is no difference. What I am saing that there is very little difference between them to merit paying over the odds for a blu ray player. I am just as happy to watch a DVD and do not think that blu ray is all that it is hyped up to be. That is my opinion and if you don't agree then that is your opinion.
