18 month contract - why not rip my arm off and beat me to death with it?

Um, stone dead cold.
#4
I dont think thats fair sicknote to be fair - its a bloody good deal for what it is(as long as the usb modem is free).

Just because you wouldnt want it doesnt make it a good deal...
#5
only half price on the 30 quid 15gb a month not the 15 quid a month 5gb according to website ???????????
#6
actually suddenly voted cold - why the hell have you posted the same deal twice in one day?!?!
#7
My comments are totally fair.

1. More cost effective to roam with Vodafone & O2
2. Better network performance in terms of speed and network stability with Vodafone & O2
3. This is for existing customer and they want to sign you up for an 18 month contract
4. Without exception, 3 have the worst customer service experience of ANY UK Mobile Telco.

Probably wasn't happy with the cold votes on the original thread and wanted a better outcome with a new one.

Good job negative repping has been disabled otherwise he would have over-dosed twice today :-D

1) No its not.
2) Perhaps, but at lower speeds according to recent reviews
3) By the by - if you want a decent deal with hardware, you need to sign up for a longer contract
4) True enough.
#10
1) not true
2) no. 3 have better 3G coverage
3) think yourself lucky.. the canadian iphone has a 3 year deal on it for 6GB data a month ;)
4) actually 3 are above orange on the jd power survey..
#11
If you are on 3 already you can just add internet usage as an add on, means you are only ever tied in for a month at a time.

I think the price is good though and cheaper than the rest so overall it is hot for me - i will excuse that is has been put on before.

That’s for using with your phone only I believe! This deal is for use with a PC.

Hi another poster here, why not just create a bluetooth PAN with your phone, buy the data add-on and surf until the wheels fall off?

Assuming your laptop & phone have blootoof that is....:whistling:

I dont know about other providers, but T Mobile charge extra PM to use the phone as a modem. There ARE ways to detect that it is this form of traffic and not directly from your phone, although the providers may not be enforcing it yet by all accounts.

Go on, admit that you just made that last post up - before I pull your pants down! :p

No we all know that's not true - unless someone at T-Mobile has some sort of magic lantern and whole lot of physic ability :-D
#22
No not true. HTTP headers will vary, as will MTU size. IP encapsulation may differ also. This can all be analysed by T Mobile

The technology to do so is not really any different than packet/traffic shaping employed by ISPs.

Ive already got broadband at home for my laptop with virgin media but spend alot of time at my girlfriends so for £7.50 a month this sounds good as i already have a 3 phone contract.

Is it possible to somehow use the broadband for my mobile aswell or is it only for pc's?

Also can anyone tell me the best modem to get with this?

Thanks
#24
Anyone?

fix
Anyone?

Vigor Draytek 2820n router will work with 3g modems if you want to create a home wireless network (and you have a spare £150).

As for the phone thing, Take the sim out of the modem and stick it in a 3g phone and I cant see why you wouldnt be able to use it for internet. Dont use it for calls though!!!!

You can sign up for this deal through the 3 link on Quidco and you don't have to be an existing customer.

I signed up this morning and am new to 3. Quidco gives £12.50 back too, which makes the deal average out at £6.80 per month over 18 months (about the same price as three cups of Starbucks coffee per month!)

I would like to reinforce this post.

If you are going for 3 mobile broadband, it would be better to take it out on the basis of being a new customer, otherwise you are tied in as a mobile customer for the next 18 months too if you want the price to stay at £7.50. In other words, cancel your phone contract and your mobile braodband monthly fee will double!
#28
3 are idiots! Just rang me up and asked if I would be interested in mobile broadband. Im like yeah Ive had it for like 4 months!!! You'd think they would know!!!

Has this actually happened to anyone? My contract is up in 3 months and I will tell them i'm leaving if they dont offer me anything good until retentions ring me.

Think I did read someone on the MSE forums mentioning it happening to them a while back. It was certainly stated on the 3 website last time they did the offer for existing customers - worded along the lines of 'half price as long as you maintain your existing 3 mobile contract'
