Just to let you know that these bags are not 100% basmati rice- they are a fusion of basmati rice and long grain rice.

As such do not think that compared to other pure basmati deals like east end rice which is £5 for 5kgs at asda that this is a fantastic deal.

I like basmati rice, however I tend to buy long grain as I can cook that better. For some reason when I cook basmati it sticks and tends to be stodgy ... I know it's something I'm doing wrong but I don't know what. I cook to direction and tend to even take off before the recommended time even as I know its probably due to overcooking.

Any tips out there?

Wash and soak rice (1 part rice with exactly 2 part water) for 30 to 60 minutes in a microwaveble bowl. Microwave this on full power for 10-11 minutes, wait for 1-2 minutes then place a lid on the bowl and microwave again for 3 minutes. you will get a good non-sticky basmati rice.

With any basmati rice you need to soak it in warm salted water with a splash of oil in it for at least 60 mins. Then rinse it in cold water as many times as you can - until the water runs clear. Bring to the boil in salted and oiled water and boil for 3 mins. Drain and rinse with boiling water. Perfect rice everytime

They are OK, not good quality basmati.
We tried it and not really happy...
Recommend Kohinoor or Tilda, makes far better rice and great with any curry!

To get the best results:
Soak the rice for 10 to 15 mins and cook in rice cooker (we use Argos cookworks brand)
Hassle free and makes fantastic rice in 12 to 15 min!

Don't forget, rice is rich in 'essential vitamins, so good for health too...:)

+1 (Although I don't pre-soak or re-heat...too lazy!)
