There's a really bad smell from these, they claim it's the gas they use to flush them with. Then unfortunately I got mine delivered by parcel farce, on a really hot summers day, late in the afternoon.

Which means unless it's freezing weather I won't be buying from them again as their chill packs are useless and had burst soaking the box. I also ordered their BBQ pack and the ready meals. I've had to throw the sausages out as they had a weird smell that suggested they were not safe to eat. So much for a bargain.

If you live closer or get your delivery at the start of the day then it might be a better option, otherwise I'd steer well clear.

Oh and be prepared for a barrage of emails from them, even if you opt out. Awful company, poor packaging and they use too few ice packs.

I read some reviews in 2013 (afterwards unfortunately) from a forum where a muscle food rep had said they would look to increase the ice packs and were seeking to have couriers deliver their products. Well it's a year later and your orders are sitting in warm warehouses overnight and hot vans all day. Lovely.

We ordered from them last time there was a deal on here for minced steak. I was really looking forward to the chicken breasts, but unfortunately they are tasteless!! Even having them in marinade for 24 hours, they didn't taste of much. Won't be ordering again.

Also had a bad experience. One delivery took four days to arrive. I chucked it right in the bin. They sent a replacement, the seal on one bag had come away. The chicken in the other one was full of fat, skin and blood. They claim they remove all this. It comes in a plastic sealed bag and looks grotty. Apparently they were doing away with the bags and using plastic tubs. Would not use again.

Mine were in bags, they seem to say they are going to do a lot to improve and then do nothing.

5kg of chicken breast at Makro for £10? I've shopped there for years and never seen that. I presume you mean £20?

I order monthly. Never had a problem. If i do they always put it right. I agree with others that 2012-2013 things weren't great as they were a new company. But now they have seemed to sort their problems out. Especially with the new warehouse move.

With regards to the taste. Better than any supermarket stuff at half the price. Very little water loss also.

Had to get a refund for mine a couple of weeks ago which customer services were not keen to do. Chicken arrived on chosen delivery date but had actually been packaged 12 days earlier with a use by date of only 2 further days. The odour was not a result of the packaging, it had gone off and was not fit for consumption. I have ordered bulk chicken for several years from other suppliers and never had an issue. Musclefoods insisted it was ok to eat but after 30 mins exposure to air the smell of gone off chicken was actually worse! Their customer services people do not believe their customers and this issue relates to gone off chicken NOT packaging. No problem with the steak and mince I purchased at the same time.

Muscle foods simple need to half the use by dates from 2 to 1 week and I am sure the problem will be solved.

Always use musclefood but usually miss these offers, no extra pack is added to my basket even though the code is accepted. Is that normal?

Don't like the idea of something like chicken being out of a regulated environment for so long. We either buy from local butcher or farm shop or if pushed Morrisons.

Please tell me more! I am always looking for good quality. Cheers x

Musclefood meat is cheap and horrible. Especially the chicken. Really smells bad as well. Used to be a regular customer but will never use them again. Be aware.

I probably place an order once a month whenever they've an offer on and can say that the meat is pretty good! If you check the nutritional content to those of the supermarket then it's obvious that the chicken is better quality meat.
