THAT is a very HOT price. Wish it was basmati though!

Where was this offer? Nationwide?

There was nothing to indicate this is store specific..So yes Nationwide offer!

was in ASDA yesterday but didn't see this one there. might actually be store specific.

A pound per kilo is not a good price at all. Tesco value rice is A) still rice and B) half the price. C) in more convenient packets if you care about such things. Oh and D) these bags are always just about this price anywhere.

Sorry my first post is all doom and gloom, but I was nearly seduced by this once.

they were £3 once.
#9
looks to be around £10+ everywhere else, so good price
#10
Seems like a good price to me - can stock up. heat added

Home Bargains had the 1kg bags for 99p if there's one near you

What's the quality like compared to Basmati?

I bought some easy cook rice last time and it's diabolical, I can't wait 'til it's gone!

Fine if you like eating nasty rice, but comparing cheap and nasty Tesco value rice to Tilda Long grain is like comparing a fiat Uno to a Mercedes benz..Yes it will get you from A to B but I would rather travel in the Merc any day of the week!

Such as? Would be useful to know where to buy 5kg of Tilda at £5 as I never find it at this price and we eat rice as if it is going out of fashion! I buy some other brands of rice, but only started doing that when the 'rice price increases' began. Tilda is my rice of choice price permitting.

10kg bags of soil, just £4.49 at Wilko.

Ok, I don't appreciate the Tilda brand compared to T-Value at about 66p/kg which is as near as dirt cheap.

I was going to post this a month ago and even took a picture of it. Then Asda personnel approached me and asked to delete the picture even when I said I was going to post it as a hot deal. I was upset very much and not posted it :-(

Lidl sells basmati rice 5KG for just over a fiver, I can't remember exactly how much, it was a few weeks back that I bought it, nice rice though and I will be buying more.

On the topic of rice which cooks and tastes ok, we have a previous posting for Akash Basmati which is £6 for a 5Kg bag, but £10 if you get 2 bags (http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/akash-basmati-rice-5kg-2-for-10-tesco/941181). My mum (proper old skool asian who knows food) says this is not bad to cook and to eat... so I went back and stocked up on a few more bags. This ends in a few days I believe, so fill yer boots.
