5KG Tilda Basmati Rice is now £9.99 at Sainsbury's reduced from £14.99.

This makes it £2 per kilo which is great considering that it's usually £4.45 for a 1 kilo bag.

Tesco are doing 5Kg of a different brand of basmati for £5 at the moment. I've no idea if they compare but it seemed to be a good price.

Think its Rozana Basmati Rice, 5Kg for £5 :)

Tilda is like buying Kelloggs cornflakes rather than another less well known brands.
Thus more dearer.

Yeah Tilda is overpriced imo.

If you can find Tilda cheaper then please post a link to it.

Otherwise please don't vote cold as unless you can prove that Tilda rice is the same as cheaper rice!

I think you can justify voting cold because Tilda isnt a bargain even at this price.

there's nothing wrong with people expressing their opinion. Surely the best rice deal is the most quality/quantity for your money. A bit of healthy debate on how much quality you are actually getting for your money can only be a good thing.

The place to go for rice is your nearest Pakistani cash&carry, IME.
Though we did once buy a 20kg bag from Costco...

great find! Off to get some in the morning. Tilda is by far the best basmati on the market (according to me!) :-D :-D :-D

Yup, the brand is Apna; good stuff it is too.
It's a long term offer, been this price for atleast 3 months.

5kg bags of rice ... is there a comet headed for earth that I haven't heard about?!
#16
£1.19 for 1kg yesterday in Lidl (Thank you John Francombe!) this obviously wasn't branded!
#17
Is this the Sainsbury's advantage?...
#18

Well in my case Tesco sent me 5x£8 off £40 vouchers, and I only spend about £20 per week. My kitchen will soon like a fully stocked nuclear bomb shelter!

Good value.
Note also that, Tilda 20kg can be purchased for £35-38(?) at Macro (you need to bring a proof of ID and address to gain access, if you are not a member).

Cheers.

This isn't cheap, you can get 10Kb basmati at Tescos for around the same price. The asian grocers too usually do considerably cheaper than this.
#25
Sorry cold from me.
Asda had the Tilda 7.5kg bags for the same price.

same as above. Double the price doesn't seem like such a great deal to me.

Hot from me - Nothing compares to Tilda for quality its by far the best rice on the market Imo:thumbsup: Heat & Rep added:thumbsup:

As an asian - and believe you me, we hold authority on rice quality and authenticity, Basmati is the finest rice to use, and Tilda is the most premium of brands. Most bengali/Indian restaurants will use basmati rice - and more often it's Tilda brand - feel free to ask next time you go for a curry. So it is perfect for special occasions, or if you can afford rice at that price. We made an awesome lamb biryani this weekend with Tilda Basmati rice. I'd suggest you try others and see what your taste buds tell you. In comparison there is a different Basmati at half the price - so worth a go as well. Always a good idea to have a variety of rice at home. Also local shops have this at the same price - where the Tilda Basmati rice itself has the RRP sticker on it at 9.99.

Sounds good..is it in-store or online?

As an asian my staple diet includes rice since childhood and tilda is the best brand around...without discount it does feel over priced but this is a good deal ! HOT for me...especially if its 7.5 kgs

Was on Saturday at Asda Milton Keynes.

Don't know about online.

I've seen this offer too but it's not worth double the price you can get the other one in Tesco :p
