Gold connectors on digital interfaces are the biggest farce ever.

I bought a shorter version of this for £2 from Zavvi, the last time a deal was posted. Works very nicely with my xbox 360 and HD TV. Good solid connection, and while the difference of HDMI cable quality is negligible between most cables, I think the cable at least looks a little better than a standard black one.

maybe so,but this seems like a good quality cable that does the job well and thats much longer than most for a cheap price....thought id post so someone could benifit from it!

Would you pay more for a mains plug with gold pins? Same difference if you ask me. I still can't believe how much people overcharge for AV cables.

But for the record, my comment at least was not aimed at your deal in particular, just at the retailers that sell you cheap TVs and rediculously expensive sundries. You can easily pay £25 for an HDMI cable in currys which is outright robbery if you ask me. The gold plating is just there to make AV snobs feel superior, though it's been proven that an outstabding sound and picture quality can be attained using a bent coat hanger.

And you can have that one on me.

naw no problem - ive seen enough hdmi threads to know that as long as signal gets thru it doesnt matter(bent coat hanger i cant comment on!Lol!) personally ive always paid 2/3quid for a cable (£25+ in currys etc is scandolous) but saw this and thought it was ideal for anyone needing a longer cable!

Also gold connectors on a cable, even when they do have an effect on analogue cables they are useless unless the things you're connecting them to also have gold connectors.

That isn't true, the purpose of gold plating is to prevent oxidation and tarnishing, which it generally achieves. It isn't useless - but it also isn't worth any more than the handful of pennies that it costs.

Unfortunately Prepaymania charges 7.95 to ship to Ireland so it works out at 12.33.

Zavvi charges 0.99p and works out at 6.29.

You guys in the UK have it well handy when buying online :p

The opposite happens in reality. Gold AV connectors like this mostly cause more tarnishing. This is due to dissimilar metals being in contact because the sockets they are used with are not also gold.
