...and in a few years there might be something for the home that uses the HDMI 1.4 abilities over 1.3

Isn't the ONLY difference that this cable has been tested to the 1.4 specification. It doesn't mean that 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 cables won't be able to acheive 1.4 capabilities, it just means that they haven't been tested.

If the cable cost £10-30 more you could argue.
The cable is the same price as other sensibly priced v1.3 cables,

agreed its not its costing more this is 5m for £10, no harm done in being limited future proof.

but it looks like a very poor quality cable judging by the connectors.

no - Fulfilled by Amazon

Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) is a service Amazon offers sellers that lets them store their products in Amazon's warehouses, and Amazon directly does the picking, packing, shipping and customer service on these items. Something Amazon hopes you'll especially enjoy: FBA items are eligible for FREE Super Saver Delivery and for just as if they were Amazon items.

:) I did say i was using the cable now

Sorry didnt see that bit, seems like a reasonable deal then for a future proof 5m cable, not sure on qaulity but tbh I would probably use it on the bedroom tv so would hardly notice any quality difference...good spot OP
#13
Should be pretty good for those that have their sources fairly remote from the actual screen :)
Good find :)

i bought the 10m version of this to channel into my walls in garage conversion. I tested it before running thriough conduit. It wouldnt do 1080p! - sent it back. Doesnt look that well made either but for the price its a good deal but v1.4 is marketing hype right now as nothing to use it and not officially released yet.

If youre looking for a 5m cable to just use outside of wall installation etc then fine, otherwise put something more sturdy if you plan to bury it!.

Better quality cables available for this price or less elsewhere...

But it seems 99% of comments on here are just personal opinion / bias !!

Pointless purchase; when there is kit that makes use of 1.4, the cables that support it will be as cheap (or cheaper) than regular pre-1.4 cables.
#21
Very useful, this go nicely with my $25,000 2160p 3D tv.... Seriously, whos voting this hot???
#22
I would have thought it is really rather early to be buying into the 1.4 spec.

According to this report http://www.pcworld.com/article/185479/latest_hdmi_14_specification_to_add_3d_support.html the HDMI Consortium are yet to hold a meeting in late January to decide on the exact spec

It is thought, I read elsewhere, that new 1.4 spec equipment to enter the market later this year, will not work with any older 1.3 spec stuff!...quite apart from the cables themselves!

Curse that 0.01% of oxygen!

very good deal compared to lower quality 1.5m cables that goes £16-£20. I do not think this post suggest changing your cable to this 1.4 version but as if you need another cable then this is good option.

But is it?

You pay Amazon. Amazon ship it. Amazon handle customer service. Amazon handle returns. What's the official line on how much Amazon have to do before a supplier becomes a marketplace seller?

Lower quality ? It's been proven time and time again that over such short distances you wouldn't notice the difference between a 49p cable and a £100 cable.

To be honest this doesn't look that much of a bargain, the £3.97 Philex on the same page looks a better option, I mean it's a HDMI cable that's being advertised as having Ethernet and 3D and is of "professional quality" whatever that might be :whistling:

The Philex cable is about as useful as a piece of string, it's Hdmi v1.2, clearly you should be on the 79p cable thread as your setup does'nt even need v1.3/4:whistling:

Didn't see it was only 1.2, naughty of me, would think though that a vast majority of people would never see the differences between v1.2 and v1.3. As you are no doubt aware 1.3 offers the potential of Deeper colour, Alternative colour space, Automatic Lip-sync adjustment, Higher video resolution to 1440p video signals and HD Audio Bitstream

However these are only potential improvements, and only acheived if both source and receiving device can handle it.

Thanks for commenting on my setup :whistling: and 79p???? Yer throwing yer money away lad

Note the use of the >>>

T'was a lighthearted remark, not an invitation for you to get all defensive and start listing your wonderful array of electronics, like a peacock displaying it's feathers, but if you believe it impresses or it makes you happy then I wish you well with it :whistling:
