And they put it up by what 20p - so it's not exactly a discount. I suppose every little helps, but they are one of the pricier petrol retailers.

Tesco petrol used to one of the cheapest, now they are always the first to put their prices up and there is usually always an Asda or Shell near by that are 1-2p cheaper. This offer is so clever as they make so much profit from you on a £50 shop that it easily offsets the £2 odd discount they give you at the pumps.

There is a reason why Asda never do this promotion... cheapest petrol prices possible which are set nationally and cheapest prices in store too!

Long threads on MSE about Tesco 'low grade fuel'.

I'll stick to the local Shell (same price, even with the discount) now that Tesco have dropped the points.
#5
Like Tesco, hate Tesco fuel stations - expensive and scruffy. Half the pumps always out of order at our local one with long queues too.
#6
I'll expect the price at the pumps to go up 1-2p a litre within the next couple of days...........

Even without this, saving £2 on a £30 fill might have been OK once. Saving £2 on a £60 fill less so ......

If you want to save 50p off your shopping bill and shop in a grotty lack of choice Asda full of trashy people good luck.

Tesco usually only do this promotion when they know the prices will be heading down any way.

Expect to spend £50 and find your local non Tesco supplier at least 5p a litre cheaper anyway.
#9
Yep, the price does tend to rise pre 5p off, well ours does, its got no competition and keeps its fuel prices high coz it can, in the next town where competition is aplenty they become competitive, gets on me wick as its my nearest petrol station lol

the price of fuel will stay high as long as we let Cameron get away with it, what would be hot is 80p a litre or less, poeple unit and get Cameron and his rats out before it's too late.

You also get less Clubcard Points. £2 per point instead of £1 per point. cold :(

Supermarkets are the con artists of today, they have so many ways to grift you out your money. The best part is that you think your the one getting the better deal, when in fact you're being conned.

use small shops and local markets and save more :)

Must admit I do love the fresh local veg on the market when I can be bothered to make the trip

Still double points with s clubcard credit card

My local ALWAYS puts price up 2p or 3p while this offer is on. Wouldn't mind but would only save around £2.50 on a tank full anyway.

Not to mention get better economy from stuff from Morrisons recently.

Cold.

I seem to remember it was the previous bunch who brought in the fuel price escalator. One way or another we're all going to pay for 13 years worth of debt.

All of which has very little to do with 5p off at Tesco!

I only shop at Tesco where I have no other choice or just to pick up their loss-leading promo items.

With their 5p discount they'll match my nearest Sainsburys standard price. Don't think I'll bother. They used to be cheaper or price match, now they just take the ****
