If that was going on and I were a disgruntled employee, I think I'd be calling Environmental Health and whistleblowing. Its very unlikely to be happening across all Sainsbury's stores as its simply down to invisibly poor management surely?

Lidl ones are much much nicer, and probably cheaper too.

Aren't Lidl ones just frozen Bake Off with just one flavour , Jam and from memory about 19p each, so not chaeper

I always get them separately/fresh from the cake counter (3 for 2 normally). I always get told it's cheaper to buy them in these bags, but they are nowhere near as good, then the man behind the counter always looks at me like I'm stupid and says they are exactly the same!! I think it's the sealed bag that makes them soggy.

Anyway, good deal, but try the ones that are behind the counter separated with the cakes/buns etc.

My favourite supermarket doughnut as well! Lidl's aren't bad, but the store is a pain to get to for me.

The "fresh bakery" stuff in lidl is part cooked and finished in an oven often see staff putting trays of stuff in the ovens when ever I'm in one

I agree, they do tend to 'sweat' in the current packaging. I preferred them when they were in boxes... ...in fact, when they changed the packaging I complained via email and got a reply stating that I could ask the baker to put 5 fresh ones into the bag for the same discounted price...it confuses them but the doughnuts are fresher. <3

I work in a Sainsbury's bakery, and I'll tell you, had you seen some of the work practices when the doughnuts are prepared will give a feeling of sickness in the stomach characterized by an urge to vomit (nausea). The doughnuts are fried in oil that is black, it gets changed once every six months. The doughnuts are coated in sugar that is dirty, the hoppers are cleaned once a few months and colleagues dip food in the jam and vanilla hoppers. If you eat these you'll "live less and die well". You might think I'm a disgruntled employee and, you'll be right. But that's a another matter, but, next time you go into Sainsbury's ask a colleague in the bakery, if they'll eat the doughnuts and wait for their response.

Well, each to their own, but from my nearest Sainsbury they are greasy and have too much congealed castor sugar over them. The lidl ones are nicely doughy, not at all greasy and dusted with icing sugar. They are a bit like the Polish Pączki, which are far nicer than anything I've had from a supermarket.

Sainsbury's doughnuts are unbeatable when it comes to flavour and no I don't work for them. Thinking about taking a trip into the city to pick some up. Heat.
