hot- potentially would've booked if it was flight from london

Please note - Dalaman is NOT Alanya's local airport - Dalaman to Alanya will take around 5 HOURS+!!!

For that, freezing cold.

Just about to mention this (although I think it may be longer). Better to go to Antalya Airport and even that's around 2 hours transfer time.

Voted hot as it's 9 days - some people might not mind the transfer time. Could catch up on sleep I guess :)

Where did you get £33 for transfers? There's no way anyone there is going to take you 5-6 hours x2 ways for £33!

Over all, we have stayed in Alanya on a number of occasions but the Aytap or hotel Auschwitz as we named it has to be the worst experience I or my group have ever had.

Some seriously bad reviews!!

Canaries, southern Spain/Portugal or Cyprus - maybe Egypt.....

Use http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk to research your hotel, use http://www.lowcostholidays.com/ or http://www.travelrepublic.co.uk to book.

Used both myself and never had any issues.
If you fancy a apartment or villa then use http://www.holidaylettings.co.uk, again used twice now with no issues at all.

We went to Antalya from Olu Deniz (near Dalaman) and it was hard journey through the mountains! Much better to go to Antalya and even then it's a long way.

I've had so many people raving about Turkey so eventually went. Could never go back after seeing in the back of 2 of the restaurants and the food was absolutely crawling with flies. I knew by watching the folks hitting at them during dinner that they were a problem over there, but you would think they would protect our food before we eat it FGS !!

Turkey is a horrible place but in the defense of the OP most places in Turkey are a 5hr transfer!

Alanya is one of the nicer places though(been to Mamaris and Gumbet), I quite enjoyed my time there! apart from the rude and only after your money locals.

One man told me how he had cataracts and couldn't afford the operation so wanted my money, I offered him a fiver but he still wanted more and got quite aggressive! I explained I had a £15k student loan to pay off!

Well when I went to Marmais 5-6 years ago the transfer was 4 hours! although I think we flew to Antayla airport, perhaps Dalaman is the new airport????

#28
Dalaman has been the local airport for Marmaris since the 1980s.

I adore Turkey went 3 times last year & can't wait to return, beautiful country, lovely people, fab food (Caz42 always eat abroad where food is cooked in front of you)! As for deal, went to Olu Deniz in Oct last year was quite cold in evenings.

I only go full or half board on holiday though as can't be bothered trying to find a clean restaurant every night. Haven't seen many cook much else but fish in front of folks, which i can't eat. Have to agree the country itself is beautiful. Went on a boat trip and when it stopped to let people jump into water, the sea was the most beautiful clear blue I have ever seen......was a fabulous trip until we were served our prepaid meal on board and I got a freebie .......2 lovely squashed flies in between the gammon in my salad that I hadn't even ordered.....nice!
