Great Computer Active Mag subscription offer!!!

Subscribe to Computeractive for 6 issues for 6p and then only £13.97 every six months (13 issues) and aslo free USB memeory key.

Normal cost of mag is £1.79 in shops subscription offer equates to £1.07 per issue.

You can cancel any time (and keep memory key) - I think this is a great deal espically if you already buy computeractive. Might as well get it delivered for free and pay 0.72 p per issue less for the privilage...................

Anybody know what size the memory stick is?

It's about the size of a cigarette lighter. (Boom, Boom)

The one I got from them ages ago was a 128 Mb - Still use it.

anyone know if I can order again?

I would say different. Computeractive is easy reading but with very useful info. A very good read and informative- aimed at beginner/intermediate user level (although I know a computer programmer who buys it!!)

This is a good deal even after the intro offer. The £13.97 every six months (13 issues) is a good saving. £1.07 per issue as opposed to £1.79 in the shops

DD to get the offer. Cancel anytime you want (within the first 3 months if you just want to avail of the 6 issues for 6p deal)

Does your bank charge to cancel a DD?

I've never set up a subscription before.

Do you just cancel with your bank or do you also need to inform the subscription company?

Cancel via bank will suffice.
#17
Hot, thanks. Just to verify. If I just want to take advantage of this offer purely for 6 issues and free usb key I simply cancel within 3 months or after receiving 6 issues? Also do I simply cancel DD with my bank or do I cancel subscription with Computer active via calling or website?

Yes cancel DD within the 3 months if you only want the 6 mag 6p deal and free USB key. Call your bank (some banks you can cancel DD yourself on-line) - No real need to call computeractive as you have the right to cancel anytime, as their is no commitment.

I have just signed up. Email confirming stated the following:-
We will take your first direct debit payment on 06/04/2010
The payment schedule will be:
1 payments of £ 0.06 covering 3 Months
thereafter payments of £ 13.97 to be taken every 6 Months
#19
Also if you decide to let the subscription run you can still cancel at any time.

As you are paying upfront you will get a refund on all un-mailed issues. Making this a Risk-Free offer

Thanks Good Offer. Hot !!

Just ordered. Need a usb key for my daughter.
#22
Cant go wrong at this price! I got a 1gb stick last time which died very soon after. Probably my own fault as I never removed it safely... A lot easier with windows 7.

I wouldn't recommend Computeractive to anybody who's even a little competent when it comes to computing. I guess for 6p you can't go wrong, but you might find that there's very little worth reading inside. Some of the news is useful and possibly a few reviews, but the rest of the magazine pretty much involves troubleshooting simple problems.

I think it's good for new computer users. Otherwise stick to PC Pro, or even Micromart.

You will likely need to cancel around the 5 issue mark to ensure you don't have the first payment taken.

Most offers I get require you to cancel 2 weeks before the final issue - e.g. 3 months for £x, most say you should cancel within 2 weeks of receieving issue 2 to ensure you aren't billed.

Not sure if computeractive is different but might be worth reading the t&c / faq / small print to see what they say :)

Thanks ordered. Hate those forms with all the "click here if you do not, not, not, not want our trusted sponsers to contact you".
#26
Some one please correct me . its 6monthly direct debit , meaning right now they will debit 13.97+0.6 . First 6 issues are free , not first 6 months. Its 26 issues per year. Payment is for every 6 months, i.e. they will deduct money for six months ( 13.97+0.6 or so).I am right?

i've done this deal twice so far, received 2 x 1gb sticks. it's hit and miss what they're actually like though. the first one was ridiculously slow and almost unusable. the second one flies and works perfectly. still, 6p for 1gb plus some occasionally useful tips in the magazines is a bargain!
#34
Nice, thanks to the OP :)

One of the best computer magazines out there -very laid back editorial feel.

Great deal.
#35
Thanks OP. Impossible not to go for this. 6p! Crazy.
#36
Nice one OP, gone for this. Cant go wrong for 6p.
#37
Hot, I agree with the others it is a decent computer mag and being fortnightly is more up to date than most other mags, I have been taking it since issue No 1!

If like me you are a subscriber you can extend your subscription to get the offer. :)
#38
really good offer from computeractive, been on it for months now and DO only pay £1.07 per month by direct debit, and free flash drive is-1gb.
#39
pay the 6p and then cancel, iv always done it, no problems
#40
I would agree with the posters who say this is only really for beginners... Very basic stuff (lots of troubleshooting and not a lot of content). Also I have seen a few reviews in it which disagree with some of the IMO better magazines (like PCPro, Computer shopper etc) and good websites. So I definately wouldn't trust their product reviews! Of course the price is good though! but there are often deals like this around for magazine subscriptions!
