Why is there cold voting when this is a brilliant deal?
#2
Subscription is for 13 Issues (6 Months) and the cost is £13.99 with a FREE USB Memory Key, First 6 Issues @ £0.06.
The mag comes out every 2 weeks.
Still a good deal but not as good as you make it out to be.
#3
But do you have to pay £13.99 up front for the yearly subscription (which includes the first 6 months for 6p). I think it's a little misleading but still a great deal if you wanted a 12 month subscription for half price effectively, plus freebie. Or have I misunderstood...can you subscribe and pay monthly for 6 months and then cancel, ie the DD is taken monthly?
banned#4
You pay only 6p for the first 6 issues then you cancel if you do not wish to carry on. I have subscribed to this same deal a year ago and it worked with no problems. Just make sure you cancel in time I would recommend sending a fax, or email or letter (whichever tickles your fancy or is the least hassle) just after recieveing your penultimate issue i.e. 5th issue.
Can't go wrong.
#5
Seems like a deal.
#6
We will take your first direct debit payment on 23/02/2009
The payment schedule will be:
1 payments of £ 0.06 covering 3 Months
thereafter payments of £ 13.99 to be taken every 6 Months

Escellent deal, just ordered. I did this last time and kept the subscription going as it was decent mag, only cancelled when I lost my job.
#8
Have just signed up for it, im assuming that you wold get the 1GB USB whenyou sign up to the £13.99 deal after the initial 6p 3 months
#9
Cold because it's not 0.06p. Price is £14.05 for one year (u can get a 1gb memory stick from the pond shop for £1).
#10
Great deal - 6 mags for 6p regardless of whether you get the memory stick or not!! Voted V Hot
#11
I've just signed up by phone, but now I'm slightly concerned as the website states:

13 Issues (6 Months) Direct Debit @ £13.99 + FREE USB Memory Key, First 6 Issues @ @ £0.06

I'm just a bit concerned whether this is the contract length and whether I'm bound for all 13 issues
#12
heat & rep bargain
#13
looks like a good deal
#14
naff mag IMO MicroMart is much better :P
- not voting either way

I agree. They normally tell you it's a no obligation offer, but the offer states 6 for 6p then £13.99 for the rest. Need to see some T&C
#16
6 mags for 6p? doubt there's a better offer (that's worth reading)
#17
nice one, just signed up :)

Cheers +rep

Read through and it doesn't state for sure what your paying and when you can cancel..

EDIT: I have since done it charged me 6p for 3 Months and can cancel anytime.. HOT!!!

how do you know you can cancel anytime? can you copy and paste from the t&c's you found that in please? the subscription.co.uk site doesn't mention anything about cancellation, except that it depends on the publisher's policy, and there isn't any way of getting that policy i can see (i might be wrong).

EDIT: some stuff here: https://www.subscription.co.uk/custservice/custserv_faq.asp?m=24&pub_id=6

* Refunds/Cancellations
Q: I would like to cancel my subscription and request a refund. How long will I have to wait to receive my refund?

Please allow 28 days for refunds to be processed.

I'm a subscriber to Computer Active and I believe the free USB memory key is only 512mb. Only reason I say this that I got one and its not 1gb as stated.

Definately not a naff mag full of useful stuff wether you are new to computing or a seasoned
veteren. I built my first PC in 1994 and i still find out lots of useful items, articles and bargains
in this mag.
Micromart is just for components if you know exactly what you need so it is no comparison
and just a stupid comment.

I think the old saying "if you can't say anything useful, best not to say anything at all" applys here.

Good deal heat +rep added, even if you pay 14 quid for 6 months mag - bet most people don't cancel as they will enjoy the mag.

I will step off the soapbox now and no i don't work the mag.
#23
Ordered,thanks ,heat and rep added
#24
Aye. Nice one. Hhhhhhheat!
To confirm, when you fill out the DD mandate and submit it, you get told they will take six whole British pennies!
#25
Just ordered.
Thanks op...heated!

Angorfa, alex3410 did say it was just his opinion, so slating it as a "stupid comment" then harping on about not saying anything useful etc.... is every bit as stupid. He's as entitled to his opinion as you are. :x

I completely disagree that micromart is "just for components" - you clearly haven't read it very much. In my opinion, they're not comparable magazines though. CA may contain some useful info for experienced users, but it's clearly aimed at the novice on the whole .

thats a good point. OP, where did you get the info that it's 1GB? i can't see it mentioned anywhere but this thread!

i took out one of these subs because of a free USB pen about 5 years ago... it was a 32mb USB stick. how times have changed...
#28
voted hot + rep added. had this before and cancelled no problem. thanks

How did you cancel letter or just cancel the dd so did you just pay 6p and was it from the same website
#30
Ordered
Thanks OP - have some heat :)
#31
Very poor magazine , useless except for those with the most basic knowledge of computers.
#32
Thanks to the OP, nice offer :)
#33
Cracking deal.

Ideally, I'll cancel before the £13.99 payment. But even if there's something hidden in the T&C which prevents me from doing so, I'm not exactly going to be too upset, as that's still a great price for a 6 month subscription plus USB stick.

Like most of these type of deals, your likely to get bombarded with junk mail.

I had already posted this several hours earlier, so should this not be my deal, im not being funny or anything but whenever I post on this site, somebody else seems to take my deal and it goes red hot. This is the last time I post on this forum as it seems I always get stabbed in the back for trying to help!!!!!!

He's rumbled the conspiracy!

I know it can be frustrating but maybe you didn't label your deal as well as this bloke has?

Infamy! Infamy! (They've all got it in for me!) LoL! Your OP is for a different deal with a different source code, and this one seems better value!
I'm a long time subscriber to Computer Active. Like most of us, my computer is taking an ever greater importance in my life and the advice and information gleaned from this mag pays the sub many times over IMHO. By the same token once you are a subscriber you may well want to stay the course. If so my advice is to then ignore such deals as these sent to you as a "renewal" or "extension" offer. VNU then simply keep billing you at the initial sub. In my case that means £10.95 every 6 months compared to £13.99 in this deal. No doubt that will be cheap in 3 years time (£16.99?)
#38
Great deal, got 4 or 5 of those other magazines in the 3 issues for a £1 deal the other day as well!!

Heat given as is duly deserved!!
#39
Good find. H&R added.
#40
SIGMA had edited my post after I had reposted this deal as the code had expired on the previous deal, this deal was then getting hot until it had got edited, so this is the last post for me now as you are all useless and dont appreciate the original poster!!!
