Well, I guess that you can feel sausages without feeling bad about it right?
Though if they're -good- vegetarian sausages, they have a good unique flavour of their own rather than being a poor man's sausage. Usually people get into these things expecting the same thing, and preparing it the same way as regular meat, but that is usually a mistake. These (probably, I've never tried them) aren't things that taste well with a lot of gravy and whatnot. Instead, they taste a little more pure, and if well prepared will taste a lot less fatty than regular sausages.

Again, I've never tried these, but I usually find vegetarian meat-replacements to be quite tasty, just a little expensive. Of course, this deal doesn't have that problem.

What's the point of sausages apart from clearing up all the bits of animals they can't sell as meat?

As in what's the point of vege sausages when you can have the real thing, then yeah maybe no point.
But when you eat them not expecting them to taste like meat sausages then it is just convinience food.

They are okay, for a quid I'd buy them though I still have a couple left in the freezer.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I would really recommend these, they are SO tasty!! Ironically, they go really well with a meat gravy, but they are also really tasty with home-made chips and some baked beans :D

Never understood why vegetarians want to make their food look like a meat product? :?

They should be Linda McCartney's Sausages... unless Linda McCartney is in the Sausages! :w00t:

guys posting should really communicate more, here we have threads in the wrong order first should of been the veggie sausages and then the cheap toilet rolls because lets face it after eating all those fake sausages you are going to be reaching for the nice n soft bog roll ;-)

I've heard this SO many times, here are my thoughts:

Maybe it's because most vegetarians don't work for those companies and have no say in what shape the product will come in.
Maybe because it's easier to relate to when it's called "Vegetarian sausage" than "Vegetarian lump".
Maybe because some vegetarians are vegetarians because they dislike the way animals are treated rather than because they dislike the taste of meat and thus appreciate being able to eat something resembling a meat sausage.

But most probably it's all those above mentioned factors.
Not having a go at you btw, it's just that this is a meat-eating society thus food language is quite limiting. ;)

I've never worked out why Vegetarians spend their entire waking lives looking for things that look and taste like meat.

It's like me searching for a 16 ounce T bone that looks and tastes like a feckin carrot.

It ain't ever going to happen.

I've never worked out why some people feel so threatened by vegetarians or vegetarianism.
I also don't know any vegetarians who base their diet around fake meat so maybe you shouldn't assume things just because these food companies shape their products like meat.

I prefer these to so-called meat sausages.

You don't get lumps of fat, gristle , hair, cows bum etc in them.

what a daft statement. Having been vegetarian for 40 years I do not, nor ever did look for things that taste like meat. I can't remember what it tastes like. My husband cooks meat and generally it smells like sh1t but each to their own.
I think manufacturers make meat looking veggie products to encourage timid non veggies to try something veggie. I've got a load of sosmix - when I cook it I don't roll it in to sausages & fry it, I put it in a pyrex dish with layers of onions, mushrooms, tomatoes etc inbetween sosmix and nuke it and it's yummy, and doesn't look like any animal I've ever seen dead or alive.

Im not a vegetarian but some of my family are and that is their choice. I eat meat but choose to eat vegetarian sausages including quorn because they are low in fat and far tastier than sausages. I would pick these over artery clogging sausages any day! Opinionated ignorant fools!
