Awesome deal I have seen on their website, seems too good to be true... Maybe someone can prove that this deal is wrong lol.

Basically if you join up now on their 12 month Group Peak membership you get 6 months for free....

Seems very good if you ask me, online its also only £35 a month with 30 quid booking fee. Good considering my local council gym is now charging £29.90 a month with an annual contract!

I would never touch LA Fitness again. Had so many problems cancelling before. Ended up with them owing me money but they said I owed them. Had a debt collection agency after me for the money that I did not owe. Don't think I am the only person to have problems with them

barge pole and avoid at all costs, your tied in for 12 months.
#4
Yes but if you get 12 months for ((6 x 35)+30) 22.50 a month.

Not bad at all.
#5
Join now before the New Year rush. Most people join in January go for a couple of months and have given up by Easter :lazy:

Monthly Fee: £47.50 / month

I'd love to find any gym these days which don't tie you in to a 12 month contract, I really would! I tried my local council gym and even they require you to be tied in for 12 months the cheeky ******s. You can probably find some independent gyms which let you cancel whenever but any form of chain brand and you'l be struggling from my experience. I accidentally allowed that to happen with fitness first a while back.

Other than the cancellation policy, what is the gym like??

Village (fab & posh) on a 37 quid monthly rate for offpeak worked fine for me.
try The greens in other case, 39 quid for anytime membership on monthly rate.

Much better than paying for whole year, most people only use 4-6 months out of a year.

Both options will Gym AND Swimming Pool

Yes but you don't get that it is normally £70 a month an they charge £35 instead so it is actually £35 x 12. Rip off in my opinion and I too have friends that have had many bad experiences from this place. Voted cold.

RRP: £60.00 / month

Web offer: £30.00 / month (saving 50%)

Think they are trying to say it should be £60 a month so they will only charge you 30 for 12 months, shame as i would have gone for it otherwise

Can I just say that I have used LA Fitness gyms for years and I always have a great workout there and like the atmosphere. I think it is important to say this as it's so easy for people that have had bad experiences to go on forums and put people off.

Just be savvy - if you have a 12 month contract, get a good deal at the start, pay on time, read the small print, and you wll be fine. But more importantly, make sure you use the gym regulalry otherwise you are just lining their pockets and wasting your money. That old saying, if you failt to plan, you plan to fail ... well it really applies when you join a gym. Make sure you get a sustainable training regime in place, not a faddish one involving starvation and tons of CV ... I can heartily recommend this slinky but very informative book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Be-Your-Best-Improve-Fitness/dp/0753511991/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1224959640&sr=8-1

Anyway, good luck to you all.

PS. I do think this deal is a bit of a gimmick :) Best bet is to wait until Jan when all the gyms compete for your business and you can get good promotions.

52 miles to my nearest la fitness so not for me

2 gyms here have closed down last 3 weeks inc fitness first,i was looking at jjbfitness gym but i have been told they are now dodgy as apparently they have been caught up in this icesave banking crisis.I guess a lot of people in a "credit crunch" will cancel their gym memberships so gyms dont have it easy at the moment.
#15
They are just saying that you are only paying for 6 months because the price for the RRP is double that amount you pay each month e.g RRP £65 pay only £32.50 a month. I have been a member there for 5 years and they always say the same thing.
#16
wow a whole 14% off unless I ant to pay over the odds to join for any club outside london at £30 instead of £60 - how many times are you likley to use other culbs unless you travel a lot for work

Club Peak (12 month) RRP: £37.00 / month

Web offer: £32.00 / month (saving 14%)

Kickstart Fee: £30.00

Park-inn hotels do free membership, £29 per month and no annual contract, just 1 month written cancellation. Includes pool and 25% off food/drink/accommodation.
Not sure how many there are in the UK though!

NO needs to be a lot cheaper!!

Personally I am going thro' the free month on MSE and a smattering of 3/7 free trials - it'll do me for about a year!

I notice that nobody's pointed out Pruhealth yet. I am two and a half months away from getting free gym membership on condition that I continue to pay £30 a month for health insurance. I joined in June. I expect next June to see my health insurance come down to less than £10 a month and to continue to get free fym membership. With Pruhealth you get £85 Quidco as well...

Probably reason this hasn't been mentioned is that according to MSE they are due to pull the gym scheme in November. Ihaven;t read the whole article as I'm not interested in it but thought I would post fo rthose of you that are.

Update Note: Pruhealth scrapping its free/discounted gym loophole in November
From November Pruhealth is changing and the new deal doesn’t look worth it for most people; we’ll still confirming with Pruhealth whether the change is a fait accompli, so keep going for now, but prepare to ditch it in October. A reminder will be included in the free weekly email. Share your Feedback/thoughts on this.

Not a fan of 12 months contract on a fitness club membership so voted cold!! My local council is better it charges 24.75 (Peak) with just 1 month contract.
#22
Like others say above, wait a bit and I am sure fees will come tumbling down. First things to suffer in a recession are gym memberships and other leisure type facilities.
#23
I dont like the annual membership gyms either i use the local council ones around my area and none of these require monthly fees you just pay asyou use them and with a passport to leisure the price is £2.75 during the day and £4.50 on the eve its great if you dont want to be tied in to one gym.

I do not agree...

I have been a member with Reebok Canary Wharf for almost 10 months.
Fantastic gym and yes the most expensive of the lot, but I was willing to pay the price as the gym is conveniently close to where I live. The last couple of months I came to realize that my concerns or wishes regarding equipment were just blatantly ignored and some staff have more regard for company policy than actual service. They know those words so well... COMPANY POLICY and like to repeat it a few times in the hope that you will go away... I eventually decided to cancel my membership only to find out that I owe them two extra months of membership fees (COMPANY POLICY)? No easy way out... they will keep on milking you for the last penny! Not worth it! I tried to use the gym using a free membership voucher...can't use it without being accompanied by a paying member due to COMPANY POLICY! I then tried to pay the daily rate of £15 but again due to COMPANY POLICY I have to be accompanied by a paying member. Now I owe the gym over £225 for cancelling my gym membership on around the 2nd of November... I have to pay for the whole of November plus the notice month which is the following month :x
