mr.mean.1975 figured out that to fix the "Please enter a valid credit card number" error you have to re-enter your personal details on the accounts page and make sure they're the same as the card's billing details.

Call on 020 7365 9792 or 0800 587 1102 to cancel auto-renew
- SgtSlay3r

For those saying they're safe from auto-renewal because your card expires before the renewal comes up, you aren't. You still need to cancel or you'll end up billed regardless of your card's expiration date.

Everyone should also keep an eye on their bank statements to see they're not charged extra for attempts to purchase that ended in an error as someone suggested they had been earlier.

Has anyone tried this?
I get "Please enter a valid credit card number."
Have tried Visa, Mastercard and Amex...

worked for me, heat added

no vote either way

good price if you can get it to work for you, but not for everyone coz you have to be on silver, and have to remember to cancel the auto renewal or be autobilled for £5 pm

Sweet :-) Only let me do it 4 times though, don't think I've previously done it. I'll take 4 months for 4 quid though!
#7
What stops you from doing it more than 6 times?
1 Like #8
You dont have to be a silver member for this to work.

Current GOLD member can do this, whether they already pay monthly or not.

Will post screenshots soon to show you it works

I don't have my Credit Card on Xbox after it was hacked. They purchases several point bundles and took over my son user ID. I have to say Xbox very good and dealt with it, but too risky !!

It let me do it 4 times.

Get the following message when I try to confirm the purchase now: "This action cannot be performed at this time. Please try again later. For more information, go to http://www.xbox.com/support."

Still, 4 months of Xbox Live for £4 is a bargain! Just gotta figure out how to turn off the auto-renewal now.

Edited By: Mattytc on May 16, 2011 09:27: Could only buy 4, not 5.
#11
I can also confirm it works.

@4COSI - i doubt it has anything to do with microsoft. The hackers most likley got hold of your email address and therefore having your xbox details with your credit card on. These hackers sell your accounts on websites like dhgate and tradetang.

There is an option to do it on their website somewhere, but i spent so long trying to find it i ended up ringing Xbox Live Support and they did it instantly for me.

I thought I had bought 5 months but I have only bought 4 months (and got 9 days free?). My original renewal date for gold was the 7th July 2011. I managed to buy 4 months but my new renewal date is 16th November 2011, 6 months from today.

Managed to get 3 months but then stopped me. Very pleased though. Thanks :)

Same here. Have 4 confirmation e-mails so I assume that's all I've bought.

Working for me. Great find.

I was able to increase my subscription upto October then it same up saying "oops, you found a glitch in the system".

Will try again in a little while as per some others suggestions.
#31
Done it 4 times....(twice on 2 cards)....don't want to do it anymore for the moment in case the Credit Card company block them for suspicious activity!!!

Don't worry about the glitch bit....it says that after you've paid and clicked "DONE". You can still keep doing it.

Cheers, I was about to run out of gold but that's seen me up to Christmas

For anyone wondering how to turn off auto-renewal, you have to contact Xbox Support.

Check out thee information here. http://support.xbox.com/en-gb/pages/xbox-live/how-to/xbox-live-account-management/cancel-account.aspx

You can then remove your payment information from their system, if you so wish. They don't let you remove it with auto-renewal activated.

Have liked your first post in the thread thanks OP.
