mr.mean.1975 figured out that to fix the "Please enter a valid credit card number" error you have to re-enter your personal details on the accounts page and make sure they're the same as the card's billing details.

For those saying they're safe from auto-renewal because your card expires before the renewal comes up, you aren't. You still need to cancel or you'll end up billed regardless of your card's expiration date.
Everyone should also keep an eye on their bank statements to see they're not charged extra for attempts to purchase that ended in an error as someone suggested they had been earlier.

good price if you can get it to work for you, but not for everyone coz you have to be on silver, and have to remember to cancel the auto renewal or be autobilled for £5 pm

I aint on silver, im still on gold up to october before i did this.
Current GOLD member can do this, whether they already pay monthly or not.

Still, 4 months of Xbox Live for £4 is a bargain! Just gotta figure out how to turn off the auto-renewal now.

@4COSI - i doubt it has anything to do with microsoft. The hackers most likley got hold of your email address and therefore having your xbox details with your credit card on. These hackers sell your accounts on websites like dhgate and tradetang.

I would put them screenshots in the main post but im not sure how to, if a mod could for me that would be great.
There is an option to do it on their website somewhere, but i spent so long trying to find it i ended up ringing Xbox Live Support and they did it instantly for me.
It did stop me half way through, but after an half an hour i tried again and it let me do it 3 more times :)
