no, i am merely commenting on the quality of them, they are shocking, hard to even fit fixtures to them securely. i bought 2 and will be getting solid wooden ones in their place,

i have learnt that you buy cheap you pay twice

unless you fit them properly in the first place, im a joiner, never have any problems.

That told him. Bargain I spose, if you need to fit a whole house out on the cheap, they're perfect. Off course, I have all my original 1930's doors so I can punch them as hard as I like and all that breaks is my knuckles.
#12
Can these be cut down to size easily? If so, how much can be cut off them? Need some doors for my upstairs project, but they are all different sizes, and the airing cupboard door is half the size of the others.

you can cut them, not sure how much off the top of my head but will find out, they proberly wont be any good for your airing cupboard as there only solid round the edges and you cant really cut into the mouldings as it would look naff.

cant knock these at these prices:-D

I just made a reply to this thread but my reply was deleted. Perhaps a MOD or ADMIN would like to explain why my post (below) was deleted? Is there ANYTHING in my post that is not correct? Is there anything that causes anyone offence? I am merely giving my appraisal of this product in order that people can make a more informed decision. NO ONE has to take my word for it.. or indeed rockerfella's.

How do you arrive at a conclusion that 'most people' have this type of door in their home? Even if your wild estimations are anywhere near right (which I doubt), making a statement that panel doors are absolute pants isn't insulting someone if they have this type of door in their home. You buy a house WITH the doors included. You don't choose the doors unless you're renewing them. IF you are choosing to renew panel doors in your home you are making the right decision. Panel doors are complete rubbish. Some people however cannot afford to go around the house renewing doors. If anyone on a small budget thinks they can renew their doors for these and that these new doors will end their problems of door furniture dropping off at the screws then they will be sadly disappointed! It is false economy.

If you want/need to replace internal doors, my advice is to use solid wood doors. You WILL regret using panel doors.

I have over 20 years experience in the Engineering and Construction Industry. I have lost count of the amount of Panel Doors I have seen with door furniture hanging off. If you buy these you WILL be disappointed!

B&Q ofter sell things at a loss, the value white emulsion constanly sells at a loss and they make there money back on the brushes, rollers or in this case the door furnature.

I have these doors. They can almost be cut by waving a butter knife anywhere near them. Currently looking for a door that blocks out at least a tiny bit of sound.

Just for reference for all those knocking this deal, the doors are manufactured by Jeld-wen and not in some backstreet workshop, so the quality is fine. They are what they are, a decent, cheap , lightweight internal door which are easy to fix ( and I'm not a joiner ).

Good deal
#24
think you can get these for £8 each

quidco offer a £2 per reserve and collect order
so if your run them through in singles you will save a few quid too.

I own these doors and im not one bit disapointed in them. if i orded solid timber doors and these came i would be. if I paid £50 a door I would be. If i paid £10 for a door that lasted me because they were fitted right i would be over the moon.

This deal is for moulded doors, not solid doors. If you want to buy a moulded door these are cheap. if you want solid doors look elsewhere. If you are not sure and have been confused by all the thread spoilers, please consult your local joiner.

rockerfella, don't take things so personally. I ain't trying to 'spoil' your thread. As I have stated, I am merely giving my appraisal of this type of door. Just as you are giving your appraisal. Surely this allows people to make an informed decision on whether to purchase or not?
#29
Quidco have £2 if you reserve and collect.

sorry didnt see the above quote by littlehoneyz....durr i am dizzy today

You get what you pay for as with everything. If you want to buy cheap doors for you house then you can do so, but they aren't going to last, be aesthetically pleasing or built in the way a traditional door (with mortise and tenon joints).

These doors are even worse than the dowel and glue jobs B&Q normally sell (wouldn't touch them either).

my views exactly, and i was simply staitn my opinion, so as for the rest stating that told him and all that stuff, why dont you just voice your own opinion instead of bickering, at the end of the day, my personal opinion is these doors are not for me!

they were £17.98, there now £10, you cant buy this type of door cheaper anywhere else, thus making it a deal. If your looking for moulded doors, these are great. Im aware there hollow, thats why there cheap.
#38
Great price. I botched one of these early in my DIY career. I managed to plane it to a lovely banana-esque finish at the bottom.
It's upstairs out of sight and the carpet has done a decent job of hiding the worst of it for a good 10 years but, for a tenner, I think I'll give it another go:-D

this deal has gone over 200 in under 2 hours. that speaks for itself.

Let's just say Hollywood uses these for stunt scenes because they break easily. That's not a bad thing if you like a bit of Rambo action.
