The little Tesco on Angel row by Market Square in Nottingham is selling the boxes of 6 Quorn Bangers for 47p in the frozen section. If the shelf is empty just ask one of the staff to pop in the back and look for you.

Bangers = Sausages

Not seen this anywhere else (Mailbox, Victoria Centre Notts, some other ones in Notts, one up by Midland Heart in Brum), but I can't imagine it's store specific.

a sausage can't be called a sausage unless it has eyelids in it.
#4

I'd be stocking up on those if I lived in Nottingham.

Shame its not available on .com

I've been a veggie for 20 years and have gone right off these. Linda McCartney sausages changed a while ago and taste loads better IMO. hot though for the price.
#9
These are the same price in my local metro too.

lol @ bangers = sausages

But i dont think thay are allowed to be called sausages unless they are made from "meat".

You could just as well call em quorn rolls or sumthin.

This is exactly right, they aren't allowed to call em sausages unless they contain a certain percentage of meat, they get around this by calling them bangers, hence why someone above has said they taste like sh!t.

Yeah I've been eating this kind **** for about 20 year too although neither Quorn nor Linda Mc sausages were about when I started.

What has changed in the McCartney sausage? Not had one for a long time so may have to check them out again.

Sorry but that's ********. I think that only applies to meat sausages. There are plenty of non-meat sausages that have 'sausages' on the label.

For me it depends what they're being used for. Linda McCartney are no good if you plan on chopping them up (for stews etc) because they just fall apart, whereas Quorn hold their shape well when sliced. The Linda McCartney ones go dry very quickly as well if overcooked, but if they're done right then they're great with mash or a fried breakfast.

I've found Sainsbury's own Lincolnshire veggie sausages to be the best I've tried so far though.

I hope these Quorn's had a happy life before they were killed.

Hey, if the do-gooders can do it to us on the chicken threads......

I'm sure I saw on one of those junk food programmes that to call it a sausage it has to have a certain percentage of meat in it. I remember that because they went into one of the cash and carries and the bargain sausages had to be called bangers as they didn't meet the meat requirements to call it a sausage. Maybe that only applies if they are meant to be made from meat though.

I'm personally not that keen on these sausages but 47p is a bargain.

Glad I could help.
