Never would have thought it, but currently Maplin are cheap on Surge protected extension leads. They were the cheapest compared to B&Q, Homebase, Currys, Comet, Novatech, Wickes. Other cables either had a shorter cable, or only 4 sockets, or were more expensive ;)

From website:
6 sockets that can be individually switched on and off
Green surge active indicator to ensure surge protection is still active
Power on neon indicator
2m of cable with fitted plug

In fact, almost bought: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=225969 , because it had 8 sockets and only £2 more expensive. FYI - it can fold completely together, rather than sitting at right angles.

£12.99?? Seems steep to me.

Tescos offers 6 gang for £6.85, but it's not individually switched, and the cable is only 1m long.

EDIT: If you see better, let me know and I'll take mine back ;)

Just get 2 (£3.50 plus postage = about ) and you can get 7 sockets by plugging the second one into one of the sockets on the first... Simples.

Though you shouldn't daisy-chain. I'll stick with the Belkin surgemasters, though individual switching is great for power saving.

Morrisons were doing a 6-way non-switched surge protected one for £3 a couple of weeks ago. No idea if it's still available but it had a 2m cable. Didn't really need it as I've still got lots of the 10 Masterplug £1.49 ones I got from Argos about 6 months ago, but bought it anyway. :)

Saw one without surge protection in Adsa last weekend also for £3 in the AV section, right next to another almost identical one for twice the price.

If its opened you will have very little chance of a refund as Maplin only take back unopened stock.
Bunch of ***** that they are.

Lots of irrelevant blah blah blahing on this thread about supposed 'alternatives' that may be cheaper but lack either individually switched, surge protected or 6-way. Hot deal.
