whatsThePoint
does anyone still watch these?

Do you need peer pressure in order to force your own decision or something?!

Buy it if you like it and want to watch it at the price it is, or force yourself not to like it because it is sooooooo 90s...the choice is yours.

I saw 3-4 episodes the first time round and wondered what all the fuss was about
so its an even bigger wonder to me why anyone would want to still be watching it now

3 4 episodes??

Well 9 series' later and a couple of feature length films over the course of ten+ years kinda of sums it up.

Then you don't like it, plain and simple...I loved the show in the 90s, and it was ground breaking at the time, it had its "cheesey" episodes interspersed with its alien conspiracy episodes, but when you consider for most seasons they were averaging 22 episodes per year, thats filming an episode once every two weeks, and when you consider the quality of some of them was ground breaking at the time.

Some of it has obviously dated (technology shown...their laughably large cell phones, the incidental music, its 4:3 format on earlier seasons) but its a great show for those that love it, like any old show.

It is only a wonder to you because personally you don't like it, however, I would be interested to know what TV serieses you did find great in the 90s?

lol why do you only watch current TV shows? I still watch Cheers, I must be stuck in the 1980s!!

I quite like the series and wouldn't mind watching the whole lot. Missed quite a few throughout the years when it aired on TV. :( Has there been any news on the blu-ray remaster they were supposedly going to release a few years ago now? Would rather have say a 10 blu-ray disc collection than a box of 60 DVD's and the quality is not even meant to be that good.

Some episodes were much better than others, but overall it was good TV.

I never got past the first episode of Lost or 24, so each to his own.

Good question, but i would need to find a site that lists series from the 90's to remember any of them

I don't watch hardly any current series or programs at all come to that

Only things i really watch is dragons den and the apprentice and then only if i catch them on iplayer, if i miss an episode its no big deal

So I can surmise from that that you generally prefer "factual" programmes/reality TV shows, if Sci-Fi/Mystery isn't your genre then you are not going to appreciate The X Files, whether it was a current show or a 90s show.

Personally I would watch a few shows from the 90s that may have dated a little but were in my opinion brilliant shows, "The X Files", "Twin Peaks", "Millennium", "Frasier", "Jeeves & Wooster", "Cracker" and cheesy now but loved it at the time and would still watch it "Quantum Leap" to name a few.

my brother used to own the videos, £1 a dvd, can't fall off.
The films were bad but the series had some excellent episodes. In my opinion TV was much more original in the 80's/90's than constant reality shows we get now.
If my brother was worth £60 for christmas that would be sorted lol. :)

It was great when Duchovny was in it, when he left it went downhill

Favourite episodes -Eugene Victor Tooms. That guy could fit into a cat's bum.

Yep Robert Patrick replaced him in the last couple of seasons, It had jumped the shark at that point though, and as much of the show relied on the relationship between Mulder & Scully the whole point of the show was lost.

Early seasons were top however, the Tooms episodes were very creepy indeed.

must admit, I did the same, watched the early episodes and though it borrowed far, far too much from stephen King's 'It' (to the point of being closer than the actual film was) but I did then watch many others & grew to like it.

Whether you like it or not, it inspired several new tv series to be made, before x files there was no good merican crime drama really, this had everything and im willing to bet a lot of the newer series have this as an inspiration.

I bought this a couple of years ago for this price. It took 6 months to watch the set all the way through!
