I had one of the old ones 500gb and these are very compact units with very small power pack rather than the huge power packs others seem to have.

Still a good option if you bought one of the Medion PC's with the eSata docking bay on the top, they fit right in and don't need any extra power connectors.

Keeps the one free on the PC for another drive.

Right on mate!!... the significance of esata/firewire options is not always apparent!!

Still waiting for someone to put up a link to a better priced one as i need to buy a new esata external drive

This sounds good to me. The recent 1TB one at Amazon was USB. eSATA is much faster making this a good option if you have an eSATA port.

Careful though, this doesn't have firewire I don't think.

Just eSata and USB2.0

Very good price for an eSATA, voted hot.
You can buy eSATA enclosures for under £15 and install your own hard disk. With 640Gb costing around £50, it would be only marginally more expensive and it would allow you to decide on the make and capacity of disk to install. However, most people will prefer to buy the all-in-one solution offered by Aldi.
