The link takes you to its usual price of £43.69 so you have to go to the "Today only page" to get it for this price.

I nearly brought a 500GB HDD for £34 yesterday, so for the extra £3.94 I can get another 140GB.
Before you vote cold and say - "You can get 1TB drives for £50 - £60" - I was in the market for a drive of around £35 which was at least 500GB - so for me this was a good deal, although it wont be for everyone.
Anyway just thought it was useful information for someone

I have changed the direct link to the today only page. Below is a link to the product.

Wow that was quick - already voted cold with no reasoning...I love this forum

I was unaware that I had to give a reason for voting, or is it only when I vote cold ?
Please enlighten me as to the workings of this forum as apparently I am not privy to the rules by which it operates under.
#3
Hot from me - fair price.
The cold votes will probably the 'Hitachi Deathstar' crew

EDIT - To be fair though the Western Digital Cavier drives are around the same price, same guarantee and a better reputation and a greater DOA warranty.

How you wish to vote is entirely up to you and whether you wish to qualify your reasons for voting is also up to you.
However for the benefit of all members of the forum a qualified vote whether it be hot or cold can only help to stimulate discussion over a topic and thus give people a more informed view of the product.
Unfortunately there are so many cold voters out there who will just reduce the temperature because they arent interested in that particular posting.

Personally - If I am interested in a product then I will comment on it and vote accordingly. If I am not then I dont vote
#5
Nice spot.... H&R added!
Also, totally agree in that if I am interested in a product then That gets my comment and vote too: if not, then I don't bother voting etc!

It's pretty soul destroying. Sometimes you wonder why the hell you bother. Sometimes you know things are a good deal and single-minded people still vote cold.

But often sense prevails and overrules, and now you're already at 100C +

This, however, is a good point!!

:whistling:

You need to be completely upfront in your title or people will only end up disappointed when they click through.

Post is correct, look on the today only page and its £37.99 INC VAT

I am unable to mind-read, yes. What is the point of a direct link field if it will not have the stated price?
#12
clearly states in the post that the link takes you to the product page and you need to go to the today only page for this price
#13
should link to the today only page

Probably because you mentioned the dread words "Before you vote cold...." which seems to be a red rag to some. :)
Agree with the other comments, re posting or not posting on deals.

If you look through the misc forums the guides for voting say it is advised and beneficial to the forum to post your reasoning behind a cold vote.

As above there are no cold hard rules for voting.

Hot price, although personally I would go for a different brand. I think I paid around this for an 80GB drive only a couple of months ago. (I had a work requirement for a drive that needed no more than 4GB space!!)

Only a matter of time before these deals kill off the free Scan P&P deal though :-( too easy to NOT take advantage of!

I guess those before have answered the above.
My title says "today only".
I put a direct link in to go directly to the product itself rather than to a today only page which you would have to scroll through to get to the product.
I also qualified on the first line of the posting where you would need to go to get it for this price.

If people cant read what is clear and legible in front of their own eyes then what a sad state we are in....I'm sorry that by going direct to the product page you would then have to click a couple more times to get to the today only page but i believed this to be the best way to list the posting.

So the cold vote because you couldnt be bothered to read the post properly...tut..tut

Hot from me - wanted to upgrade my old 240gb drive, thanks :)

good price, hot from me... and i agree with you the link should go to the product first and foremost. The today only page is after all many different sale items and no doubt you would get complaints if you did that as well
#22
Voted hot. This is pretty cheap in comparison to the western digital hdd which is still only 500gb. Does anyone know if this works in the phat ps3?

To provide you with the details of the actual item on deal? ....... followed by the additional detail of available on the today only page I would have thought this would have been more than sufficient to someone with a decent enough intellect. Mind reading not required.
#24
I'm not voting cold because its a good price - but I'm not voting hot because Hitachi don't make very good hard drives.

Stick with a Seagate, it's worth the extra cash in the long run.
#25
NOTE: you have to click on the buy button to get it at the price above. If you click onto the product then it shows up with the price + VAT so click the button to add it to your basket ! ! !

Welcome to the internet! People don't have time to read everything in any detail. :whistling:

If you search for something on Google and the site you click through first doesn't show what you're looking for, chances are you're click the back button in literally seconds...

Definitely a problem with the scan site. They should have anchors on the page so you can link to them directly. Their "today only" deals page isn't very user-friendly. I think you should have linked to the today only page though.

No it doesnt. This is a 3.5" drive the PS3 uses 2.5" drives.

The best one at the moment is

If people don't have time to read everything in detail do you really think they are going to have time to plough through the today only page to find the relevant item if they can't be bothered to read through the deal listing detail on hukd?

Agree with the anchor point comment though.

Often the hottest deals start cold! Ive seen deals in -50 and still made upto +1000...so just dont listen to your heat rating for at least a few hours!

No.....
I really wouldnt want to be drawn into an endless saga of tit for tat comments (which I fear this will devolve into) - this thread is about the product and the price not about why this wasn't done or that wasn't explained properly. The majority managed to find it at the price in the original post.

Just as a matter of interest did you vote the deal cold because you couldn't find it at the price stated or because I hadn't linked to the today only page?

Hahahahahahaaaaa.

Modern Hitachi hard drives are excellent, and MUCH better than seagate, they run cooler and quieter and are much more reliable (the deathstar days are LONG gone).

They are both more expensive than this deal...

Hot deal , better to spread data across multiple disks.

If you read the thread you quote... I was pointing out to somebody that you can get 640GB WD drives for around the same price. :p
Don't drag me into any back-biting - I voted hot (on page 1) :?
#39
Cold because you can get a Samsung Spinpoint F3 for £56.63 delivered: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173804

Hitachi 640GB - 92MB/s read 91MB/s write, (333GB platters)
Samsung F3 1000GB - 124MB/s read 97MB/s write (500GB platters)

Cheaper per GB, faster, lower power consumption and probably more reliable.

you can reduce the necessary scrolling to a minimum by using the # switch.
in this case, #2 takes you to the Super Savers section on the TO page:
