Yeah, I only go 5*. Wouldn't want to fly all that way to stay in a rubbish hotel.

I stayed at a 4 * Guardalavaca and thought that was just ok....more like a 3 *...definately better to pay a little more and enjoy the stay.

OMG, I actually stayed in that hotel a few years back with my family. It's CUBA, folks, there's no internaitonal brand hotel chains, so don't expect too much. Hotel itself is a bit tired, food is nothing to write home about, but the beach is great, and we had a great time. I don't think u should be put off by the mixed review and the 3 stars rating.

There are some international hotel chains, such as NH Hotels - their Parque Central hotel, central Havana, is wonderful and deserving of 5 stars. That said, the other hotels we stayed at were rated above what we would expect over here.

Don't go in the hurricane season if you can avoid it, as it will be hell - communication isn't great, and your stress levels will rise to almost ruin your holiday. So, better deal outside of the hurricane season, which is often cheap time for the Caribbean.

The deal doesn't mention minimum occupancy, so I'm guessing that the total purchase price is much more than this.

I think that this is a great deal!

If your going to cuba for a nice hotel and a beach holiday then your going for the wrong reasons. If thats all you want then why not go somewhere else?. I always thought that the whole point of going to Cuba was to see how people live and how their system works for them. See the ingenuity of keeping an isolated nation going. The old 50s American cars kept running with bits of soviet cars and home made parts. Old British motorcyles, the collective farms, the fidel murals, the little cafes and bars that ordinary people use etc etc.

Oh well, atleast Cuba does ok out of tourism, but i just hope that this tourism isnt a sign of things to come.
