MicroSD not SD.

Details:

Another great invention from SanDisk, the microSD is about a quarter of the size of an SD card and is the newest standard of SD flash memory specifically designed for use with ultra-small mobile phones and other devices. Like the miniSD, the microSD/TransFlash is ideal for use in storing media-rich files such as music, videos, and photographs in compatible mobile phones.

I believe it means the minimum read/write speed is 6Mb/s, so it would be at least 50% faster than a Class 4 card.

Unfortunately not as the 6300 only supports SD and not SDHC.
Not many phones currently support sdhc at the moment, not too sure why!

Depends what features you want....one of the ones with extra features over the others is the CycloDS Evolution and some of those features are: RealTime Save (so you can save at any point in the game no matter if you've progressed to a save point), Slow Motion, In game LCD brightness adjustment. There's also good support for it so any problem games that are submitted to their forum are usually sorted in the next firmware release. Some of the extra features are in beta testing mode so not sure how well they work but they should be improved upon in future firmware updates.

Drawback to the Cyclo DS is that it's double the cost than the others you can buy from dealextreme and they don't seem to be in stock anywhere at decent prices at the moment. I backordered one from modchipfitters for £32-ish with del.

Another good one that's usually around £15 at dealextreme is the "Edge" and it seems to be a cut down version of the Cyclo DS, same menu system but without the extra features I mentioned. Just as good otherwise and better than most of the other cheap ones at the same price tag....it was my second option but decided on the cyclo ds....will be getting the edge for my friend when it comes back in stock though because it more than suits her needs (and most other peoples).

Best thing you can do is to look for reviews yourself at places like GBAtemp.net and remember you're likely to be waiting around a month for anything from dealextreme if you order from them.

Just awaiting my £20 DVD.co.uk/LoveFilm voucher and this is on it's way to me! :-D

Hi,it will only work with a Supercard DS one (SDHC) ie latest v3 version i think.
Looking about there not much between a the Supercard DS one & the CycloDS(Cyclo might edge it by a cig paper, taking everything into account),main thing in my eyes is you can get the v3 Supercard DS one from Dealextreme for £18.You can use it somehow as a DSTT(£15) as well.
Just ordered 2,shipped after a couple of days after ordering,so you never know might be with me soon(depending on what you read).

Cheers BOB

ps i ordered same card(also Class4) which also comes with a SD adapter & Sandisk SDHC USB reader.Ordered 2,so £20 with P&P(£21.94 TOT for 1).
MyMemory deal posted on here earlier.

It depends what you want, I had a DSTT for a few months, and had the Supercard a few days.

In my opinion the DSTT is a lot easier to use than the Supercard, the DSTT has a better user interface and a child can use it without any instruction.

The Supercard is a bit more "Grown up", and very fiddly. The scroll bar for the games is awkward, and I reguarly select a game when I am trying to scroll down.

If you are new to these cards, I would go for the DSTT for it's ease of use.

I choose to stay well clear of the Supercard DS One given it's original reviews...there's much better cards out there that worked on their initial release. Having to guess the save file for newer games and having all your save files wiped when you run out of memory is just silly....imaging nearing the end of a lengthy game like zelda only to have your save wiped. Not sure if they've fixed these problems since but they should never have released it like that.

You should confirm that this is still the case before stating this.

It's like saying to stay away from a Ferrari in 2008 because they were no good when the were 1st released.

I clearly stated that the the review was from the initial release....or I thought it was clear enough...cba to confirm it's still the case as I had already looked lightly into the card reviews to double check when I posted but found no recent re-review of it and I'm not about to take the manufacturers word for it either....people should be responsible for their own research when choosing a product in any case...I'm just trying to give them a little help from my own research but they should still check it for themselves as I would do myself because I tend not to take random peoples word for it.

Point is there's better products out there for the same price and they were muppets for releasing it so soon with so many flaws on it. Some of the reviews said the updates are rather slow as well so it's not too appealing to me.

Thank you very useful information. Rep added.

Yes it was clear, but there has been a complete change of card, and several micro firmware updates on the supercard.

I would not have recommended a Skoda years ago, but they are fine now. Skoda should not have ever released such shoddy cars, but that has nothing to do with the cars bearing their badge in 2008.

This is where you point out these better products that can be purchased for £18.50.

I realise that this will be your opinion, but let us have a look and compare...

Hi,i did actually read up a bit on the latest info:-

post #314 if you also like the DSTT

Look though this threads, others & other forums etc.

If you ain't found a fault with a card, you ain't looked hard enough. For a start one card which gets recommended a lot, some peeps are having to put a bit of card behind it or bend it to get the contacts to work.
Some cards have had probs in the past & havn't now. Some were the bees knees & ain't now etc etc..If you see a prob don't let it put you off a card,a peep will always post a prob, but check the overall picture & prevalence etc

Some cards have more features(some say hard to set up,some say not that hard).Just to do roms most are easy to use by the looks. Some you can scroll games in A-Z order, some its more difficult etc etc. Some suit some peeps, some suit others.

Also i look for good support, good support forum & FW etc improvement track record.
The more you read, the more you find out,the more you change your mind.

Cheers BOB

so is this the best card to buy for under £20 to use with m3 real and would it cause any games to run slow or am i better off buying a fast 4 gig mirco sdhc

I kind of assumed people would get that from my post (firmware at least) if not from their research....they usually change the design of a card, be it as little as changing the plastic if it's cheaper to produce or to fix a problem such as not fitting correctly into the DS (as I've seen in the past). They always update the firmware though some manufacturers are better than this, in the new features they include, fixes, and the speed of the updates.

I would not have recommended a Skoda years ago, but they are fine now. Skoda should not have ever released such shoddy cars, but that has nothing to do with the cars bearing their badge in 2008.

Far as I know the Skoda was taken over by a different company, changed the design completely and have new models rather than the old so not the same comparison really. It would be better compared to Team Cyclops nicking the design of the Supercard (Slot 2) and making their own version, improving upon it and fixing the problems for the initial release of their Slot 1 design and becoming much more popular for it.

Of course the Edge has nabbed the design of the CycloDS since (extra features over other cards not included but who knows in future.....nabbidy nab nab nab <_<) and I wouldn't be surprised if the supercard was nicked from another company....it seems to be the way to go with this kind of product though they're not the only ones to do it in business....take Apple nabbing the design of the first GUI computer made by Xerox PARC after a tour at Xerox and releasing the Lisa/Macintosh a few years later. Then of course Windows came along.

This is where you point out these better products that can be purchased for £18.50.

Well I already have and I don't need to. You've basically said the DSTT is your choice over the super one, perhaps just for newbies though you stuck with the DSTT for longer. Mine atm from the research I've done would be the Edge as it's a cut down version of the CycloDS so hasn't got an awkward GUI, runs all the games, easily skinnable blah blah check the reviews for more cos that's what I'm going on at the moment as well as user comments....and I remember the edge is currently under £15 although out of stock at dealextreme but might be in stock at other places.

How long ago did you have the super one? If it's recent then sounds as if the menu is still awkward and the random starting of games while you're scrolling would put me off by itself....when I buy something I just want it to work with no niggles here and there and if there are better products out there that are niggle free for the same or cheaper price then it's a no brainer really.

http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=70252&st=210

Post #214 Supercard & CycloDS don't always get recommended if a price limit is required.

Aslo a Supercard can be made into a DSTT:-

Choose which suits you the best, price quality, support, support forum etc etc.
Even those with extra features are supposidly easy to use, just playing roms.

Cheers BOB

ps they all seem to have there good & bad points. One some peeps have had to put a peice of card etc into the slot or even bend the card.So the contacts make contact.
