    errr .. why ???

Because Murdoch is just plain and simple greedy. When you consider all other newspaper sites are free, why should you have to pay for his? what's so special about the news in The Times that you can't get fro Telegraph, Independent, Guardian, Mail etc... etc.. etc... not to mention the international newspaper sites!1

    Wrong wrong diddly wrong.

All media companies are migrating to this model...the internet is a massive loss-leader in its current form so pay walls are going up to combat it.

Personally I think the sunday times is great on the iPad, so I'll be buying!

What utter nonsense. 'Pay per view' news content model is unsustainable - even though owners like Murdoch will try it on.
The only people who will cough up are the iPad owners. The rest will have free content from an unlimited supply of web sites. Most of which are/will be sustained by adverts revenue.

These newspaper websites are filled with adverts just like Murdoch's premium TV services and the stories that will be published will be available elsewhere free of charge, I hope all of News Corporation news paper websites go premium then Murdoch wont have any widely available outlets to drive any agendas such as invading Iraq or which political party to back.
