decent tablet for the price though i suppose ..

Great price, just pray there isnt a problem with it.

I have this tablet, it's not bad for the price. It's slow though, i have it rooted and overclocked some. it struggles and constantly having to free memory to do things. Browsing is alright but isn't really smooth but then again what you expect for price :p

Great for kids definitely, just whack angry birds on it :)

Says £54.96???

Select £'s in the drop down box.

$54.99 = £36.55

True, it's a gamble... Many positives, some negatives. You get what you pay for. Extra £5 gets you a bit better battery here, chipset is the same and clock speed so marginal you won't notice. Good find on price, odd that they stock borderline identical kit at focal...

oh well, in for a penny!

How would this manage games? Any hope of it running GTA Vice City?

Not a chance.

Specs look very similar in spec to the Versus tablet that Carphone warehouse were doing before xmas for £44.50 (except this only has 4gb, the Versus one being 8gb)
That one has been great for the money, some apps seem to really slow it down (Skype / Facebook) but otherwise it's useful for many games and vids for my 2 year old.
It doesn't play GTA Vice city though! Angry Birds and Temple run work smoothly though.

I'm sorry to say the £36.55 tablet will be nothing like the Versus 7 tablet from CPW, the spec advertised on this £36.55 tablet from abroad will not be true to the components that are actually inside the tablet itself. The build quality and screen etc etc is nowhere near the standard to get a decent android user friendly experience.

Its best to buy here in the UK, try Misco, ebuyer etc if you want a decent low price tablet.............keep watching the deals advertised etc.

You'll probably find there's only a handful of companies make these components / screens and many of the internals are the same. Most likely they're using graded components which may be more likely to fail or cannot be driven as hard. CPU not good enough for Samsung QA? Stick it in that tub over there, Tai Tablets will buy it to put it in one of their knock offs.
Personally I'm going to reserve judgement until I see one.

Doesn't include the single most important bit of information regarding low end tablets: the screen resolution.

That would be because it is 800x480.
#20
Does it come with a glass of water?

I ordered one of these a couple of days ago when they were £31.59. Had the dispatch email today - just the standard 45 days wait from China via registered airmail now. On well...

Ok to summarise, possible identity theft, crap possibly dangerous product, if damaged paypal will make you pay to ship it back tracked before refunding transaction (this costs more than tablet), company pay people to post fake positive reviews, does not come with uk power supply, chance of getting charged customs fees, no prospect of ever getting refund if a problem, battery life less than 15 minutes and it doesn't have a rear camera.

Yes I bought one it took 4 weeks to arrive with a cracked screen after 47 messages to focal price and a claim with paypal not a penny back.

This might be worth a read:

Focalprice sell some ainol tablets on their site- might be worth the extra outlay....

I am starting to think that if these tablets do not have gps that they are inferior products, Any with gps that i have used seem to work rather well with the odd exception. Also there are a few new devices being released in the first half of this year at good prices supposedly.

don't be fooled by chines sellers or scamers !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you there bud, its not until you buy these cheap low end unbranded tablets and experience first hand the poor build quality and slow performance, you soon discover a whole new world of being ripped off.

These tablets are cheap for a reason, why do you think these wonderful looking high spec tablets are not being sold here in the UK by Currys, Tesco etc. You would think Tesco's buying and marketing team would strike a 20+ year deal with these small no named factories to sell these tablets in their stores for cheap money................

The reason this don't happen is because these products would not pass the declaration by the manufacturer that the product meets all the appropriate provisions of the relevant legislation implementing certain European Directives (CE Legislation).

Meaning no UK retailer will ever buy into such a dangerous non profit venture that would put their company out of business with more laws suits on their hands that would seriously cripple the UK buying and selling market.

i orderd one of thease after finding this deal , and i gotta say is a very good tablet , touchscreen is responsive , plays all my files and browser is quick , and even plays games that i didnt think it would , i would reccomend , i have a samsung galaxy tab 7" and an anol 7 mars , without a doubt this is better than my £70 ainol tablet , is lighter , more responsive and only downsize is lower resolution but is still a great tab for the money , it only took idk ...7-10 working days to arrive - i also had to buy a universal plug as its shipped with a 2 prong chinese plug i think ,down side it from the 4gb space you only get 1.3gb for yourself but the tab works with my 32gb sd card so is fine - overall i am very pleased

this might just be me but i tryed connecting the tablet to my pc and it couldent install the needed files for it to work properly , so make sure u have a micro sd reader and put files on your tab this way ,

like i say is very good for money and everything works great , fruit ninja ,coin dozer , and many more , tryed a 80mb 3d racing game , it stutterd and froze a little when loading but after the adverts and starting scene it worked fluidly,

im pretty sure it said the tablets was black but mine came and its white kinda like a pearl shine color still looks and feels great for the money

Arrived today, seems ideal for the kids to surf the net. Well worth a go.
#36
Mine arrived today, screen looks like it has had some use before. After around 1 minute of use it reboots, back gets hot so seems to be a temperature issue as eventually it sticks on the loading screen until you power it off leave it for a bit then back to the reboot cycle. Have done a factory reset on it but no difference
#37
Just got mine in the post today.
Only ordered it a week ago, so nice and quick.
The packaging was a bit squashed, but it doesn't seem to have damaged to tablet.
So far, so good. As others have said, it won't break any records on performance, but it can do the basics.
I have a slight niggling problem with the Play Store at the moment, it won't connect through the app.
The internet works, I just haven't had a chance to download any more apps.
I'll update if I get any problems, or if I fix this one.

Purchased one of these on 23rd Jan and arrived today so only took 8 days with no customs to pay. Feels very plastic. Touch screen is responsive. Internet connection seems slow especially when navigating thesun.co.uk. I can't play anything from youtube. I just get the round white dot going around in circles (egg timer for youtube?).

According to the spec this is meant to be 1.2GHz CPU with quad core graphics but is nothing on packaging nor settings to indicate this. Cosmetically it looks like the 1.0GHz single core graphics version posted in another deal. I guess it doesn't matter at this price (came to £35.53 via paypal exchange). Does anyone know how I can check this?

There is an app called android system info and also antutu benchmarking software which will test the performance of the tablet.

Allwinner A13 is one of the better chip's that can be used in these very cheap tablets. Others are worse like rockchip 2906 (or something like that), WM8850, Action ATM7013 (the worst as its mips based with compatibility issues).

It's only a single core Mali 400 gpu as far as I know in these. The allwinner A10 has a really good video decoding chip capable of 2160p but I'm not sure if the A13 has that.

The budget chip of choice is the Rockchip RK3066 which is a quad core gpu and dual core cpu. I don't think its vpu matches the allwinner A10 though.
