The crucial deal is still going at Play for £1 more, if you prefer that brand. This is still a great deal though.

7DayShop is offering discounts on multiple purchases, so it's even cheaper if you buy more than one:

1 £16.99
2-3 £15.99
4+ £15.79

Since I bought two, I saved £2.

anyone know what timings this ram is? Maybe 9-9-9-24 or something? Could someone run CPU-Z and find out the timings on this ram, thanks.

I've never heard of Simmtronics, so maybe I've been living in a cave for the last 14 years?

I'd always go for a proper named brand, one with lifetime warranty like crucial or kingston.

Simmtronics is its own branding for its products. It is best known for its OEM products and also supplies branded memory for makers such as Hynix and is a major supplier of graphics memory for nvidia based cards. Simmtronics memory modules also come with a lifetime warranty. :)

Going by the description, they're big in Asia, but haven't really been picked up over here in the West very much.

And these modules do come with a life-time warranty. Check the description for that.

Simmtronics is the brand i've been using in my pc since january, 2x2GB.
Runs fine tbh, never had a problem.
9-9-9-24 is right I believe as down the list it says 9-9-9-24-33 so i'm assuming that's right, don't know enough about it :S

About the multiple purchases discount - 7day being based in Guernsey, isn't there a limit of £18 before VAT kicks in again. Do they absorb that cost or pass it on, in which case you might be better off placing multiple single orders anyway, right?
#13
Wow RAM prices really have dropped recently. Bargain :D

They pay the VAT for you if it goes over the limit AND the limit applies to 1 unit, so you can buy as many RAMs as you want :)

I bought two units, which meant that I got £1 off each unit, and the total order (Just double checked the email receipt) came to £31.98, so they swallow the VAT as radekstepan says.

is it 3D ? ............

re shipping : As the VAT dodging allowance is £18 PER CONSIGNMENT, 7dayshop will usually SPLIT consignments so that each package is below the allowance - hence one day when I'd bought £200+ of ink cartridges for 6 months supply for a friends' printer, the postvan brought me a SACK full of packets from 7dayshop, each under the limit.

Personally looked at this memory and decided that if buying such memory buying from a KNOWN brand = the way forward - and if the price delta is just £1 then daft not to go Crucial or whoever. Personally I would NOT believe every word of self-promotion at face value on a website for an unknown UK brand. That's not to say this isn't a bargain, just it seems to have little provenance.

CAUTION:
I recently purchased 2x 2GB sticks of this memory. Running 9-9-9-24 I was getting continual crashes in Win7 and, sure enough, Memtest showed memory errors. Slowed down timing and still got some errors. Replaced with a different brand and all is OK.
Contacted Simmtronics in the UK and was told that I would have to deal with their 'RMA Centre in Singapore'!
Contacted 7dayshop via Email but no response as yet.
Would not touch this offer with a very long pole..

Excellent deal!

Thanks 'DisappointedofLeicester'. I too bought 2 x 2GB of this memory and my Windows 7 kept crashing (Dell XPS430) - problem with 'physical memory dumps' also. Prior to using this memory I had 2Gb of another brand fitted and had no problems. I removed the Simmtronics memory and fitted 2 x 2Gb of Kingston and all has been okay since. I think I will contact the 7 Day shop also and see what they say - wouldn't be surprised if we were the only two who have experienced these problems.

I won't buy this brand again.

to those having problems with the memory, I also bought 2 and was having problems but upon looking at the memory noticed that the gold contacts were dirty, cleaned them and they now work fine so I would recommend you check for that before you send them back, you can clean them with an eraser or isopropyl alcohol if you have it

you can then use memtest86+ or the built in tester for vista/7 to check it is running fine

here's the spd info for who ever asked for the timings

Sorry to hear that. Mine is working fine in Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10. Good luck with the refund.

Ordered my 2nd pair :). People will always be sceptical of a unknown brand of RAM but well i guess that just mean's more for me :)
#24
Have you tried running them at tighter timings? Results?

Wll this workon a Dell Vostro 1500? please help thanks

1% Quidco for those interested.

Despite the mixed reviews i've just ordered 2, you're always taking a bit of a gamble with cheap ram but then i've never really had any trouble in the past with a variety of budget brands. Fingers crossed that my fortune will continue with this pair. :)
#28
Currently out of stock, though apparently 'expecting stock soon' according to an e-mail from them.
#29
Think I'll order 4 x 2GB sticks once they are back in stock.
#30
Update: The 7 Day Shop have apologised and have agreed to take them back and refund me - even paying return postage. I have never had any problems with stuff bought from them in the past and knowing their service is that good I will continue giving them my custom. Maybe I was unlucky and had a faulty one; I did check the contacts and they were clean and they were fitted into a brand new computer.
#31
RAMM arrived today, 8GB, no problems installing and I barely know what i'm doing
Thanks GAOTD and 7DAYSHOP :)
#32
I'm still waiting. I appreciate it may be the post though - I've had a lot of snow.

I too am having some issues with this ram....cheap crap
