Charge Time 2.5 Hours
Use Time 2 Hours

I wonder if the battery charges when in use and plugged in?
You'd think so, but the battery specs don't fill me with hope...

Says £49.99 here.. does code add money on? :)
Am I missing something?

Adds VAT + Shipping

I refuse to buy from these people after a run in on a previous order. Note that other people who had bought mini TVs on the previous offer were posting on here they were sending them back as they were clearly not brand new.

Also note the checkout applies 10% discount to pre-VAT price, after adding VAT to the item and shipping, so in effect it's nearer 8% discount.

I think they should be honest and admit that the "special deals" they do are seconds/returns. If you pay the full price you probably get new kit, but these are, to the best of my knowledge, not brand new.

The spec suggests you can connect a USB hard drive to the usb port and view films on your hard drive, if so, a nice option. Hope it lives up to expectation (Knew I shouldnt have taken the day off work and then visited this site :-))
Thank you for posting.

The 2 TVs I received on previous orders appeared to be new.

The website states "UnbeatableGadgets is the clearance/excess stock division of Fascin8 Ltd"

"Looks like it can play xvid to"

Where do you see that??
#12
Really I've no idea if they sell new or returns stock as I had my order cancelled twice so I never got my 2 TVs. I'm only going on what other people posted when they received their items, saying they looked like they weren't new and so were sending them back.

They do their special offers till they've run out of stock (quickly), then they return to the usual price and magically new stock appears. It can only mean, in my eyes, that they sell both new and returns, and they're clearing the returns at the special offer price. And they're not exactly being upfront about it on the website.

Says it can play mpeg 4 which usually means divx/xvid

just ordered one....thanks for posting this

Has this actually got much chance of receiving Freeview? Surely that little aerial won't pick up a good signal?
#16
how does this work with regards to tv license? hyperthetically say you had no other TV in your house; would you need a tv license?
#17
Bagged it. Perfect for my 3 year old daugther as she can watch Cbeebies as well as her DVDs. Genius. Voted HOT.

Thanks to the poster!

yes in theory.

Solution, the classic wire coat hanger.

Bagged one of these too. Great price for what you get and also assured on the Customer infomation line these items are NEW sealed.

I bought a similar one for a recent stay in hospital.

The supplied aerial couldn't pick anything up at all (I had a direct line of sight to the transmitter) but an All For One portable aerial from Dixons worked fine.

where do you put the discount code?

It might if you turn it on it's side. Digital TV is transmitted horizontally not vertically.
#26
I'd avoid these, cheap cheap quality with cheap cheap components. What you save is what you'll lose in 3 months time
#27
You only require a licence if the device is plugged into the mains. So if you are watching it with it plugged in, then yes you do, but if you are charging it up, then running it off the battery then no you don't.

Well any player I've ever had (and its been quite a few) that says it can play mpeg 4 can play divx/xvid. The only reason it doesn't say divx is that divx is licensed and this wont be a licensed divx player. All the cheap models that can play divx/xvid usually say they can play mpeg 4 but not explicitly divx/xvid.
#29
Does anyone know if it captures analog TV signals as well ? :-(

Divx format requires the device to be unlocked using a randomly generated code on their website after entering the device serial number, wrote to a CD then played in the player. Is there some sort of work around I don't know about?

Does anyone know about Screen quality on these unbranded things ?
#32
Mine's being despatched so I'll be able to let you know next week!
#33
Got mine this morning....nice little unit and the screen quality on dvds is spot on for what it is.

The freeview part is a problem for me though picking up nothing on indoor aerial or the little thing that came with it....house aerial picks up channels fine but i dont fancy carrying that with me!

Wont be sending it back as it the dvd/vcd playing part i wanted freeview was a bonus that came with it, keep the nipper quiet on some journeys now.

Not a bad menu for mp3 cds either, but i havent tried usb device yet all in all worth the money!

thanks for the post again
#34
Got mine to day and i am very pleased with it, and it even plays divx over the usb port, works a treat with my 120gb 2.5" drive
#35
I received mine last Friday but Freeview has subtitles on by default. If I go to the menu and turn them off they stay on, if I turn them on they go off?? Tried everything and spent 3 days talking to tech support but they are unable to resolve this and said I would just have to turn them off (or is that on?) every time.

Has anyone else got this problem?

I think it's called an "undocumented feature" :whistling:

Just spoken to unbeatablegadgets. They are reluctant to give a full refund claiming it is over 7 days since I bought it. I pointed out that I received it Friday and the weekend, a bank holiday and 3 days waiting for an answer from tech support have passed by. I have also just discovered that it will cost £8.24 to send it back.
#38
Sent it back Thursday and received a full refund including original postage and cost of return postage today. Can't fault that for customer service.
#39
Try changing the subtitle language to German. Bizarre, but it worked for me.

In other news, the price has now dropped to a measly £49.99 before delivery. Cheap as chips if you missed out first time round.
