feel free to bomb it, if you think it's a rubbish deal. I'll not get the hump and defend it like it's my child lol (some ppl do on here)
I only thought i'd add it as most of these cheapo tablets i usually see don't have CAPACATIVE touch screens rather Resistive, also older Android versions like 1.6 etc not flash enabled 2.2 like this one. So i figured i'd add it. Sorry if it's a repost and yes i know Deal Extreme is pretty slow to ship and aren't the best customer service wise... but this has stats to rival the ipad for a quarter of the price.

hope it makes some1 happy anyway

Looks half decent but just a couple of issues, it is liable for import duty and although ive never been had for it from DX you cant say for sure that you wont and that would increase the price by a lot. Secondly there's the ridiculous delivery times upto 2 months for it to turn up, im still waiting for a laser pen from the start of February.

On paper atleast looks to be a much better proposition than the usual $100 stuff, but then it is twice the price. As Polly says, always gotta consider you may get stung by customs and your spending £123.78 for something with as good as no gaurantees, warranty, CS or returns.

I bet the 1080p capacative screen is awesome tho. Gotta love em :D

Wow, that's pretty damned impressive for both spec and price.

As has been said though, you *could* get hit for import tax.

I would risk it if I needed one though, looks a good deal.

Just to make it clear though, the actual screen isnt 1080p! ;)

As said already the warranty wont be worth the paper its written on so if you brick it,its tough luck so for me this is not cheap enough to risk it, that and the fact that I have a Galaxy Tab which I love.

Might just be me... but normaly when things are 1080P, they have 1080 tv lines ? like (1920*1080)
the screen is 800*480 pixel resolution.
ok it can support HD video formats, but what the point if it cant display it?
Personaly i think the title is missleading.....I know you have used DXs title, they translate and not the best at doing it.
--------------------------------------------

If the Hdmi can send 1080p to ya TV it might be worth changing the title to....1080p video out via HDMI ? best reaserch that first, but if that is the case than this is a top deal !

It can obviously decode 1080p to its screen, but the real question is can it output the native 1080p stream via the HDMI?

If it can, thats a big plus point for obvious reasons.

Comments about warranty etc. are valid though. However I still think its tempting for anyone with a "need" for an Android tab.

lol, I just added to my comment somthing like this.... before reading your post lol,

To be honist i dont really like tablets, I preffer a massive screen on phone lol but if it can display 1080p (though HDMI) it would be ideal fo me i dont like keep taking a media player, when mates ask to "bring some films" lol

aint got the cash tho but like the price and concept if all adds up lol

customs will add another 35-40 quid if you get hit & this brings it closer to the cost of an Advent Vega at 211 delivered from PC World Business.

Looks a lot like the DroPad M7009

i got customs charge not long since and it was £28.50 for just the same amount as this is..
hope this helps..

don't forget this will have a responsive screen i.e. its got a capacitive screen as opposed to the others on the market at the moment which are resistive so not a bad but IMO.
#13
Just to point out you will need a US to UK mains adapter.
#14
Agree with all that's been said and I woudl add a 7" screen is not very useful.
If you want a tablet PC it need to be a 10" sceeen.
The resoloution will be higher, more desktop space, better browsing, more readable, etc....
I'm still waiting for ASDA to restock the Elonex 10" tablet for £129.

The PC world business price for the Advent Vega is 203 including vat as at 8.15 this am
Here is the link - no stock atm.
The DX price is 123.78, vat (if payable) is 24.75, so you pay an extra 54 for better hardware, good support (from modaco as well as advent), and a guarantee.
On this basis, this DX deal is not such a good deal.

On 100.00 american I got 20.00 customs and duty.

so 120.00 all together.

I am getting a chainset sent, raceface deus ltd edition, and its 200.00 so looking at 40.00 at least, but its worth is, as they were only made in america, so one of a kind,.. LOL
Are we talking about bikes? :D

i was looking for the exact same spec but couldnt find any less than £200 anywhere and ended up buying the samsung galaxy.

tempting :)

Very interested to see this in action. Might fill the gap between now and 3.0 tablets fixing bugs and coming down in price.
#21
Describing it as 1080p in the title is misleading.
#22
isnt the customs duty equivalent of VAT %?

10/10. Been saying that for years on here!

I've waited 2 months for things from DX - I don't mind for silly trinkets like torches etc. but by the time this arrives it will no doubt be available as cheap locally.

The iPad doesn't have a 7" screen, it is 9.7".

I had a couple of things imported from US recently and got stung by those jobsworths for it, never had a problem until now, my guess is that they are being complete @r$£holes right now because of the downturn and grabbing all the cash they can get their bone idle hands on, so don't be surprised if they follow suit with this or anything else you buy from abroad.

You just beat me to it.

This looks pretty decent for the price, specks arnt bad at all. The only 2 little things that let this down for me is the 7" screen and the poor battery :(

Its worth the asking price but not worth the wait ....... if it took 2 months to arrive I would have probably found something cheaper and better by then "/
#31
Give it 6 months and there'll be a plethora of device like this, all under £100.
Saying that, this is still a very good deal. Shame its from hong kong, had a couple of bad experiences buying from there (from from dx and one from bestofferbuy).

If that vega was back in stock for £169, I'd get my office to buy one for me!
#32
If they had the same spec with a 10" screen and 1024x600 they would sell a bucked load.
#33
Hot! But I will wait until there are more products released.

Capacitive screen, 512mb RAM, 1ghz processor, Android 2.2... This is actually pretty decent spec for the price.

Any reviews around?

has anyone ever been stung by customs? everyone always says hefty charge, i was just wondering how much you would likely be charged?
i want a tablet but i don't need one as my laptop serves me well currently, just being nosey tbh
I've wanted some headphones off DX for a while but admittedly the waiting time has dettered me so far ordering.

Yep. You have to pay the VAT + about an 8 quid handling charge, So expect to pay £30 or so for this.

You Sir/Madam are a breath of fresh air. For that reason alone I am voting this hot.

However, my fears on this would be potential import duty and more importantly, if anything goes wrong it's gonna cost you a fair whack to send this all the way back to DX then you'll have the waiting time all over again for a repair and/or replacement.

It's a pity because it does look like a decent spec device but I'm sorry, for me those two factors above rule this out.

Thank you once again though for your most intelligent and refreshing view of the voting reesycer.

7" isn't enough, it takes 9.7" to please me.
#39
wouldn't risk giving DE that amount of money, I had problems with their returns in the past. Cold

Very decent specs for the price, and a big improvement over the usual ePad / iRobot/ Flytouch stuff.I prefer the 7" screen format for this sort of device myself, so very tempted. Heat added.
