Voted hot! My sister is looking for a budget July holiday, and this may fit the bill perfectly... If she goes for it I'll be sure to leave some rep, too!
#3
Voted hot because of excellent price but has anyone been to Niederau? Just read some reviews.

Most of the reviews of the Hotel Harfenwirt are really good. Shame we booked to somewhere else, as I wish we could go on this break. Went to Austria in December (Salzburg) and loved it.Very different than any other holiday we have been on-lovely people, very relaxed atmosphere and great love of music. Would love to go here after reading the reviews and sing along to Herbert the hosts harp and accordian at night. He seems to be quite a character. Maybe next year!!

Thank you so much. We had decided to only go away for a few days in August to Lancashire but this was too good to miss. Booked yesterday. We are still awaiting confirmation email but have spoken to 'help line' who confirmed they have our booking & that invoice will be sent tomorrow. Kids will miss last day of school before the summer holidays never mind. This seems about £100 cheaper each than the other Austrian Tirol hotels.
Saving £400 for our family it's the difference between whether we went or not.

I was in the Tirol last week, riding my motorbike. Austria is a lovely place with lovely people.

I can't comment on the hotels but the area is fantastic for those that want to see spectacular scenery. My advice is to hire a car for a couple of days, buy a map and explore the Alpine passes. Just behave yourself: Austrian police are very intolerant of people breaking their traffic laws.

Most of the towns in the area will be geared up for the skiing season. Many of the shops will be shut. That's not a problem as you've come to enjoy the scenery...

Edit: I've just looked at the included excursions from Niederau. Both are to places worth seeing. I visited Achensee & the Krimml waterfalls on a tour in 2005.

Just checked the link and it works, might be problem with cookies on your computer. You could click on tools on top of your screen and then internet options and delete cookies. You csan just go to ww.lastminute.com, click on holidays on the top . On type of holiday select lakes and mountains and destination austria and airport you want to use-leave dates blank or put in month etc. and then you can check.

I've just booked a week for 4 for £686 !!

The only trouble is the wife hates flying, but she has agreed to go, we'll find out later how she copes.
We were considering camping in France for 1 week, but this works out cheaper and the accomodation has got to be much better.

I also want to go skiing next winter, and I guess the price will be much higher then.

Dont forget the quidco with lastminute. 6%

Will inghams send the tickets as going in 2 weeks.

I've also just got the email confirmation, however they say they will ring you if departing in less than 10 days, so I guess we will receive details in the post.

This offer is still running. I've managed to book a week off work in August - fly from Southampton on 16th Aug.

If anyone goes this month can they check to see if there is a local car hire place. The main websites only list the airports or big cities. I expect Kitzbuhel is the nearest place.

The Austrians have a very good public transport service. If you want to check out bus & rail timetables before travelling then go to http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp

I just checked my travel insurance and paragliding is only covered if it's over water.

Will have to give it a miss. Phewwwwwwwwww

I will enjoy watching them mind as I have on the webcam.

We have just come back from a week in Austria. We weren't expecting a break away this summer as such only 3 nights up north in Blackburn. The weather was lovely we had a great time as a family of 5. Thank you so much for this excellent value trip.

Thanks to the OP for highlighting the deal.

I enjoyed the holiday from Aug 16-23 - very good value and the Tirol was as pretty as ever. Watching the weather report on skynews brought a smile, as we had mostly sunny weather whilst the UK seemed to be very cold & damp.

Using Eastleigh airport was a delight too. None of the Gatwick hustle, bustle & queues.
