Very cheap package 7 night holiday for 2 people stay at the 5 star hotel on a bed n breakfast basis at the Sofitel Karnak Hotel in Luxor with Expedia ,flying with monarch airways, this comes under package holidays, and seems like a great price just checked on Monarch site and this flight only was £1197 for 2 people without and accomodation.
The price includes baggage transers to resort and a rep service.
The hotel is quite well rated on Trip advisor ,rooms come with standard air con,so well worth £738 for a fab holiday experience .
Also quidco £25 and possible 1000 nectar points (although fighting to get them added with Expedia)

Hot deal but even hotter weather! I don't know many people that would be out most of the day in Luxor at the moment and half my family are egyptian! Still, great for those of you who like it extra hot

Great deal. I'm tempted to book, but it looks as if these rooms won't have Airconditioning (as those that do have it advertised and cost more). I don't think I'd be able to sleep in that type of heat... =/
#11
Way too hot and the threat of terror attacks, its a cold one for me.

You are at risk of terror attacks anywhere inc this country, As far as I'm aware, Luxor hasn't been the target of any terror attacks, There is security everywhere in Egypt especially around the hotels & historical sites. Been there twice in the last year & if i had any holidays due, I would be on that flight like a shot.

is this offer only available in August?
#14
its not too often I am moved to comment however Although I was impressed at the price I would have concerns about going to Egypt . Contary to what the previous poster would have you believe Luxor was actually the site of the worst tourist maccacre ever in Egypt where 63 people were killed in 1997

Doesn't even interest me if there's no AC. How the hell are you supposed to sleep in that heat?

Check out this review and even funnier, the hotel's response at the end. Oh dear...

Note, not all the reviews are as bad as this so don't be too worried.

@jimruss what are you on about ???, just back from Sharm in July and believe me it was hot 50 plus. We are going back again in Nov for a month for £1300 A1 so i dont think this is such a good price. Not voted either way.

Went on this holiday last year, same hotel. fab staff, fantastic ppl. I had just completd my arabic gcse and really got to try out my speaking skills.
it was may/june,so may have been less hot. My tip? Wake up early (like 5) to go out then stay in during the peak heat in the afternoon, and maybe catch up on sleep or just chill.
Best holiday ever. Thoroughly recommend it.

56 people were massacred in London not so long ago - I suppose you have concerns about going there too? Bali? India? Spain? Ireland?...............I could go on and on

Sadly, such things can happen anywhere in the world. If we all stayed quivering behind our front doors then the cowards who perpetrate these outrages against humanity will have won - and we must never allow that to happen

I've visited Egypt 5 times, down the years, it is a wonderful, welcoming country. One of my all time favourites, and I have travelled extensively.

It is wrong, and a great pity, to view any place where these terrible things have happened through such a narrow lens

Came back from the jolie ville in Luxor two weeks ago, hit 46 degress one day and was above 40 at 6pm most of the time.

There are cheaper deals, for two we paid 550 each for a week crusing the nile then a week in the jolie ville, a slightly better hotel than the sofitel karnak. That was through first choice, so if you want to go to Luxor try there.

Plus, the hassle is INCREDIBLE, I wouldn't recommend it for a relaxing holiday, especially if you are b+b and have to eat out

I agree that life must go on as normal but there is obviously a remote possibility that terrorists could strike anywhere - even here in the UK.
If anyone's interested this is what the Foreign Office advises about travel to Egypt.
