In a nutshell, if you're after 5* treatment at 2* prices, it isn't gonna happen; if you're after a cheap holiday and somewhere to stay that's basic but clean then this looks OK. Negative reviewers always amaze me ie one complained there wasn't a toaster (errr, so what?); another complains that you have to buy your own toilet roll (err, wasn't aware it was free in UK); another complains that it was full of 'foreigners' (Please god, give me strength, foreigners in a foreign country, what will they complain about next?) etc etc. Like I say, if you want a 5* then book a 5*, but if you're on a budget and want a holiday abroad, this looks fab for the price, have a look at the decent reviews rather than the Victor Meldrews

Oi, I like Northern Monkeys, I like Southern Softies too. Hell, I like people. Unless they streotype ofcourse, that's a bit off putting (_;)
It is full of lots of different nationalities ( most of them arriving by coach) - but not many Spanish. Mainly Eastern Europeans and a few Dutch.
The beach is like grit and VERY steeply shelving ( no good for kids). Step out about 3 foot from the shore and its about 5 foot deep.
Whilst not horrible it is the worst resort i have stayed in.
You should be able to get similar prices ( on the same flight) staying in Lloret ( if you like it lively) or Tossa De Mar ( if you like it scenic) . Both much nicer places than Blanes.
Joking about my town aside, hot deal :P
Watch out for pickpockets in Barcelona though, they target tourists and work by two or more distracting the victim whilst another picks the pocket.
Hot for the price, but the resort is a little dull.
Spain a revolting country?! you are kidding right?!?!

I was just about to post the same. The reviewcentre reviews are completing damning!
People should think very seriously before booking with this website.
How was it racist in anyway? Clearly you don't live here and haven't seen any of the numerous documentaries/news reports running about all of the massivly racist group "EDL" constantly causing **** here (there leader lives here btw) and "Bury Park" being basically the Muslim capital of the UK where they have recently caught terrorists and such?
The other saturday the had hundreds of police called in from all over the country and blocked off the entire town centre - they wouldn't let us leave with the car as they wouldn't move the blockades they had set up that weren't there when we arrived at work.
It wasn't racist, it's true and if you paid attention to the media a bit better you'd already know that.

Wouldn't worry about it mate, Lots of people these days just don't understand the meaning of racism. They just use it as an excuse to try to constantly take some sort of misguided moral high ground.
Just because a sentence includes the word 'Muslim' doesn't make it racist.

Very true that they do not accept the booking immediately. They DO take up to 24hrs to confirm, BUT in my case everything was fine. I took 3 people to Spain (so 4 in total) self catering at a hotel literally right next to the beach, with luggage included (as they were Ryanair flights) for a grand total of £350! I must admit that I was dubious and a little nervous but everything went fine.
Regarding the hotel, YES they do scrape the barrel for the cheapest on the market but ours was clean and functional. Of course no kettle or toaster (we are not in Britain!!!) and of course there were lots of other tourists mainly from Netherlands and Eastern Europe (it is a holiday resort!!!). We did have to buy our own toilet paper after the one solitary roll that we found had finished but again, this is not a 5* resort, you get a clean bed, a functional kitchen and a roof over your head for a budget price.
We flew into Barcelona airport and hired our own car from the dirt cheap Pepecar via AutoEurope so the hotel served as a good base to explore this beautiful part of Catalunya.

The hotel is in the camping/ tourist area about a mile along the coast from Blanes town. Its all tacky tourist shops and lots of cafe type restaurants ( the type that have pics of different variations of egg / omelette and chips pictured outside) . There is no way anyone would consider it a better class of destination to Tossa De Mar.
Blanes town itself is not touristy because the tourist area is where the campsites are ( about a mile away)
