Hot from me - I missed out the last time so I'll be camping outside my local Aldi this time! :-D

These are really good quality - bought one a few years ago. It goes on all long car hourneys with us, keeps the daughter quiet while we listen to Tom Tom!

Need to get one for my niece, lets hope they have some when I get there as normally only have about 2 per store!

Heat added:thumbsup:

Very good portable player as picked one up last time they had them which was around oct/nov last year
it has played every film that I have put threw it via USB and the card reader and not even used the DVD drive yet.

Only problem with these deals is you normally have to get to the store early as some stores get limited stock

Does anyone know by any chance if this is multi-region?

#12

A bit like a bag of bricks, they have their own integrated holder which unzips and belts around a car headrest as in the advertising picture.....

Just got one.. they had about 25 in my local store.

It looks really good. Picture ok. It's Region Free out of the box (played a R1 disk anyway). Tested with DivX/Xvid. Plays them fine too.

The screen rotates180 degrees clockwise, and 90 anti. So you can watch it closed

On the right side it has Volume, AV OUT, CoAxial, Hold switch, Charge/Power Switch, DC In
On the back, it has a SD/MMC/MS socket and USB port.
On the left side is a space where something on a later model could go..
On the bottom is what looks like a tripod mount type screw hole.

Wonder what the tripod mount type screw hole is for, are there any car mounts that use it possibly?

ah right thanks, same pictue as in magazine but alot clearer.
seems to be attached with the screen flat to seat and the player part sticking out,, take it the headrest thing allows it to fold all flat to the seat?
probably a bit late now to get one but will pop in perhaps.

any idea what 'high resolution' means? most 7inch are 480*234 afaik whcih is less than half height of a dvd - this has higher?
#18
Just got back from Ilford branch, they had a couple of dozen left (at about midday). Ask at the checkout as they're not on display.

Picked mine up this morning, about 10am, lady at counter said they were selling like hot cakes, she had a fair few still left though, not sure what people are saying that the stores only have a couple round my end eveytime ive gone for decent electrical goods they have always had a few ok u gots to ge tin little early.

They come in black blue and silver trim.

Nice bit of kit too, plays pretty much amything.

Not surprisingly, it doesn't say in the manual what the resolution is. The Model# is 42247 but don't bother googling it.. there's nothing

I would believe if you left the upper strap attached over the headrest then yes you could fold the unit up as the bag it comes in zips, just undo the "side belts" that are supporting the base of the unit and zip it up.

As for Screen Resolution its just a bog standard 480x234 as you have said, nothing hi res, and a bog standard 2 hour battery life too.

Still for £49, its a better bargain than others in that price range, having a few more bells and whistles having a USB input, a foldable screen and a SD Card reader, and a car holder (albeit cheap, functional). It is just a rebadged OEM Chinese Import though and whilst solid enough looking, work your way past its exterior and it is quite cheaply made.

nipped into Aldi on way home from work - 3:15, managed to get the last one in the store!!
#23
Plenty left in Risca / Newport - picked one up at @ 18:00 today - bargain at under £50. The last one I had was a Toshiba but that cost well over £100 and only lasted two years - should get the summer out of this one and with a 3 year warranty you can't ask for more at this price.

Yes, at 7" it's ok.. However, I've seen some 9" screens and with this res, it looks terrible. For anyone thinking of going bigger than 7", there's no choice with any UK retailer afaik at this time... unless you want to get a DMP-B15 which has 1024x600 res @ £400.. only ebay with China imports where for £70-£120 you can find 1024x600 screens on std portable DVD players.

Got one too! :-D

I got mine too...Great item. Even though the manual says max size for SD card is 4GB, it loved the 8 GB. Now plenty of films to stick on and watch in the car for the kids. Plus I sneaked it out today and watched a film on the train! Great stuff. Wish I had 2!

The underside mount doesn't take a standard tripod screw. Anyone know if you can get different thread sizes for tripods as I could bolt this to the parcel shelf?
